Mystery Intruder

Hello G-Fans!
Another afternoon where the time between now and dinner seems to be interminable.
It has been a drizzly day.  Grey and raw.  A damp fall day.
Not much to report overall.  After breakfast, however, we had an intruder....  I think Raphael discovered it first.  He was racing in circles around the fenced-in overgrown garden.  I didn't see or smell anything at first.  Tessa was onto it second (so she says, I think she was just copying Raphael) and then myself.  Yes, I will admit I was not onto it first.  But, let's keep in mind, I have lots to oversee and was probably inspecting the grounds.  Not to mention that the younger humans next door were screaming at the same time and I had to make sure everyone was all right (they turned out to be high spirited screams and not from any distress, thank goodness).  Once I knew everyone was all right I joined the hunt.  Next, the concierge was looking to determine the source of our excitement.  She saw a small black figure moving to the perimeter of the garden, but as soon as it saw her it retreated to the center of the garden.  Since it was obscured by leaves and branches and grasses the concierge did not get a good look at it and can't be sure what it was exactly.  Small cat?  A squirrel without the sense to go to the trees?  It didn't move like a bunny.  It seemed too small to be a raccoon.  And it didn't smell like a skunk.  Then we noticed that Tessa was no longer running around the garden, she jumped the fence and was in the middle of the garden sniffing like crazy.  Since the concierge wasn't sure what the critter was she preferred to not witness any altercations.  She encouraged Tessa to come back out through the gate, to which Tessa complied immediately (I am not sure I would have been quite so obedient).  And then it was over as soon as it began.  No one even saw it exit.  We all tried to deduce the mystery visitor and its vanishing act, but to no avail.  We will be on high alert for awhile awaiting a repeat visit.
Well, I hope a walk is in the wings along with a warm meal, so I will close for now so that I might prepare appropriately.
May your evening be one of magical elevation:)

I am determined to know what crossed our perimeter with such audacious boldness!  And what creature would be so foolhardy???
