Hi G-Fans!
Ever feel like you have to hurry up and wait? Try being a dog.... As a dog you are asked if you, "wanna go onna walk?", in a squeaky hi pitched sing-songey voice and you reply, in your very doggie-like way, with an enthusiastic "YES!" by wagging your whole body, prancing around every available room, doing whirling dervish circles, jumping and putting anything you find that isn't nailed down in your mouth to show your whole hearted approval of the idea. And you do this for what seems like hours. And still, no leashes. Still, you are inside and not out. Still, WAITING!
Well, it is like that with this hurricane.
Waiting.
Now, I don't look forward to what I am hearing on the news, and the conversations I am eavesdropping on (is it really eavesdropping if you are a dog and in full view?), but it seems like there is a lot of rushing around in order to wait this out. And don't get me wrong, I am not eager to go on a limited power supply. I like my comforts. I enjoy a good radio or TV program, I like having the heat on when it is frosty out, and I like the fresh water from the well, all cold and sparkly. But there is something to be said for high wind whipping through the fall leaves, tearing them away from the limbs they had grown to cling to since this spring, and the rain slashing through those branches and pelting into the side of the house. The smells from far away swirling with the earth and mushroom smells that get kicked up. Humans have their fermented fruit and grain beverages to intoxicate them, I only need a good storm to kick up the heady smells of the world to make me dizzy. It almost doesn't get better than that. Almost. Throw in a freshly cooked chicken, a dashing bird or small creature and maybe some sea air or mountain air and.... doggie Nirvana.....!
So, may the storms in your life only serve to intoxicate you and energize you and remind you to enjoy the less dramatic days as well.
TTFN!
Safe travels to all.
-G
