Halloween

Hi G-Fans!
Well, it is Halloween tonight.  NOT my favorite holiday.  It is a holiday that poses dangers at every corner.  Food products that can kill us if we eat it (chocolate), monsters dripping with blood (I know, it isn't real, but at first glance it can be disconcerting), screaming humans (my sensitive ears hate that!), and any number of marauders out to make my life distressing.  So, I counteract that by barking, a lot.  Every shuffling leaf that is kicked up by the costume-clad little ones and not-so-little ones sets me into a barrage of alarmed barking which sets everyone else off as well.  Which then reminds the concierge to counteract that by turning the radio up really loudly to mask those footsteps and other menacing noises.  I counter move by laying at the foot of the gate that keeps me far away from the door used to distribute the poisonous objects.  While I lay there I set into motion a whiney moan that lasts for a minute or so with a minute or so in between.  I have it down to a science so I can achieve the most irritation to the concierge's nerves as possible.  It usually only takes a rotation of two or three to be let into the inner sanctum.  I won't be allowed to monitor the actual door being used, but I get as close as I can.  Which is where I am now with Raphael.  He would be allowed to sniff the little monsters, but the concierge doesn't want more excitement than necessary.  Riley is mad because he thinks I ditched him, but I will give him a full report later on..... there is no way he would be allowed in the inner sanctum.  Not with his history.  Too traumatic.  He says he is over it, but the concierge knows better.
I have included a link on the etymology of Halloween.  Just click on the word "Halloween" and you will be able to view it.

Halloween

So, what did you do to celebrate this suspect "holiday"?
I just observed a grown man imitating another grown man and he won't take any candy.   Hmmm.  That was our first trick or treater in 45 minutes....  The first half hour there was a flurry of them.....  I guess hurricane Sandy affected the holiday after all.  The concierge had hoped it would be a canceled holiday, she didn't want to buy the candy.....  I am not sure how I feel about that or what I think about that......  I will, perhaps, get back to you on it...... usually she buys it all a month before, she decorates and gets toys for the little ones.
Not this year.
So,
How 'bout you?

#100

Hello G-Fans!
Well this is the 100th entry in my daily writing.  So, I have been pontificating for 100 days straight (with some interjections from others...).  Pretty Amazing.  Are you still reading!?
Just to remind you, I love to know you are enjoying my sassy insights into the world.
It makes me giggle.
Today I should write about Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath.  But, I find it rather ho-hum boring.  We did lose our proper power for quite a few hours.  But, there was this smelly thingy outside that hummed as long as the humans fed it the stuff they put into cars (the concierge reminded me it is gas - not the kind that comes after eating some really rotted food - the kind the humans go buy).  There were some orange cords plugged into it (yes, I know and can see my colors) and so we had some lights and the refrigerator/freezer was kept cold.  So my leftover liver and gizzards were good for breakfast this morning (i.e. - no bloating gas tomorrow).  Tonight there has been quite a bit of rain, lightning and wind, mixed with clear skies, bright moon, stars and quickly moving clouds.  Yesterday, before all the excitement started, we all headed to the bog for a great walk.  Today, we got a "nod" walk, and we arrived home just in time to miss the thunder and pouring rain.  So, I am glad to have missed that even at the expense of a longer walk.
Right now, all I hear is ice dropping down into the dispenser in the freezer and the buzzing of the fridge motor and some high pitched noises from all the electronic gadgets either being charged or being worked.  Oh, and the tick, tick, tick of the battery powered clock.  The birds are sleeping as is everyone else.  Except me.  And the concierge.  She is typing for me.  They don't make the keys big enough (yet) for me to go it alone.
Well, I guess that is it.
Looking at all the peacefully sleeping bodies strewn about the room is making me want to go to sleep as well.
So my wish for you this day is to have the twinkles in the stars sprinkle the fairy dust of deeply refreshing sleep across your being, so you can greet your new day with vigor and enthusiasm.

Hurricane Sandy

Hi G-Fans!
Ever feel like you have to hurry up and wait?  Try being a dog....  As a dog you are asked if you, "wanna go onna walk?", in a squeaky hi pitched sing-songey voice and you reply, in your very doggie-like way, with an enthusiastic "YES!" by wagging your whole body, prancing around every available room, doing whirling dervish circles, jumping and putting anything you find that isn't nailed down in your mouth to show your whole hearted approval of the idea.  And you do this for what seems like hours.  And still, no leashes.  Still, you are inside and not out.  Still, WAITING!
Well, it is like that with this hurricane.
Waiting.
Now, I don't look forward to what I am hearing on the news, and the conversations I am eavesdropping on (is it really eavesdropping if you are a dog and in full view?), but it seems like there is a lot of rushing around in order to wait this out.  And don't get me wrong, I am not eager to go on a limited power supply.  I like my comforts.  I enjoy a good radio or TV program, I like having the heat on when it is frosty out, and I like the fresh water from the well, all cold and sparkly.  But there is something to be said for high wind whipping through the fall leaves, tearing them away from the limbs they had grown to cling to since this spring, and the rain slashing through those branches and pelting into the side of the house.  The smells from far away swirling with the earth and mushroom smells that get kicked up.  Humans have their fermented fruit and grain beverages to intoxicate them, I only need a good storm to kick up the heady smells of the world to make me dizzy.  It almost doesn't get better than that.  Almost.  Throw in a freshly cooked chicken, a dashing bird or small creature and maybe some sea air or mountain air and.... doggie Nirvana.....!
So, may the storms in your life only serve to intoxicate you and energize you and remind you to enjoy the less dramatic days as well.
TTFN!
Safe travels to all.

Shenanigans

Another hideyhole peek.
And another....
 Hi G-Fans!
I digress into the hideyhole abyss!  Just a couple more pictures to fill you with curiosity and intrigue.  The actual subject of tonight's musings will be Mr. Potter.

Harry Potter.... The subject of tonight's writing....

Last night I meant to discuss his shenanigans, but I was distracted by chicken, chicken livers and chicken gizzards and I couldn't remember what I was planning to write about other than the hideyhole puzzlement.  So, I will cover Harry's shenanigans today.  Last night we had only rounded the first corner of our walk when there was a flurry of noise to the proper walking side (left).  The concierge processed the situation and realized that Harry Potter had decided he wanted to be in the lead and have the leash-free walk the rest of us (sans RIley) took last month for the birthday celebration.  We watched as he galloped toward the path that leads to a busy street that the concierge is always worried about us crossing.  She says the cars go too fast, the road is too narrow and it has too many curves.  It is too dangerous.  The concierge called out several times and Harry kept on running.  The concierge said that all she could imagine that he was going to cross the road and that scared her.  Like I said, the road is too dangerous.  Harry's concierge went after him as we all stayed put to minimize his competitive urge.  Miracles of miracles, he finally heard my concierge calling for him to come and he stopped at the edge of the path, looked left, then right, turned around and sat in front of his concierge so he could have his leash reapplied.  Tragedy averted.  Yay!  We still don't know how he slipped out of his leash, but all is well and he will be suitably double checked on the safety of his paraphernalia from now on.
So, that is it for now.
May you feel the safety of a loved one at the end of your tether whenever you need to....

The Hideyhole Puzzlement

Hi G-Fans!
I was informed by the concierge that Harry's concierge suggested we show a picture or two of the the hideyhole in today's entry.  So, she was nice enough to oblige and supply us with some photos for us to use.  So, voila!  The hideyhole revisited, this time in pictures.

A good picture to show the "entryway".

A peek inside the hideyhole through the entryway.

An overall look at the "structure".

So, we are no closer to deciphering the meaning of this phenomenon.  It is our "Stonehenge". Maybe when we have snow we will get some visual clues.....  At least the concierge will be keeping her eyes out for that.  It certainly isn't rain proof or snow proof, you can see the stars through the roof/ceiling!  And I am pretty sure hurricane Sandy would zip right through as if it was made of butter.
Well, G-Fans, it has been a long week for us here at the homestead, so I am going to sign-off for tonight and allow you some time to ponder our puzzle and prepare for the possible hurricane if you live nearby.
Tonight, I wish you the end of a thread of a mystery,
so that you can tug on it to provide intrigue and thrill to an otherwise mundane day.
Happy sleuthing!

Hideyholes

Hi G-Fans!
Yawn.  This is getting to be a habit.  Late-night entries.
I don't have much to report.  A lovely sunny nice smelling day.  We spent a portion of the day in forced outsideness.
The concierge was at it again.  I thought we were good for awhile, she seems to be cleaning more often.  This time those things that hang from our windows were removed.  They don't smell right anymore.  I wish she would stop messing with our homebase.  It is very disconcerting.  But, that isn't what I want to write about tonight.
While we were outside I noticed something.
There is a pile of wood from when there were trees and tree limbs cut down.  It was awhile ago.  This year there has been several kinds of bushes and vines that have grown over it.  They have created a canopy.  I noticed there is a door that has been made in the canopy.  I door that is bigger than a breadbox.  I have thoroughly sniffed it out.  There is so much boy pee around it that I am not sure what the smells are that are mixed into that spot.  I think the mystery animal has something to do with it.  I think it might be there magic portal like in the Harry Potter books.  I am serious.  The smells just stop at a certain point.  It would be a good place to go to disappear without a lot of fanfare.  I am thinking that this mystery intruder that seems to come around regularly has a magic disappearing act.  That is why we haven't been able to catch it or determine exactly what it is.  Magic.  It is the only thing that would make sense.
I will keep you posted (obviously) of any further developments.  Especially as more leaves drop from the trees and bushes  and it becomes easier to see into the magic covering.  I am watching. Vigilantly.
So, I hope you have a magic hideaway to escape from danger where you can daydream and allow the air to waft through and clear your mind.
We all need a hideyhole from time to time.  Especially one that is magic.

The Babies' Daddy and Clan

Hi G-Fans!
I am not being given much time to share tonight so I will post some pictures for you to peruse.  The concierge was tied up all night working on her own project and didn't have time for me.  Yes, we did have a walk.  Yes, it was the full bog walk.  Yes, it was a nice walking afternoon/evening.  Yes, there were good smells.
But she just didn't have time for me tonight to help with the blog.
So enjoy!
May you capture the "Hallmark" moments of your life and place them in an album to be enjoyed frequently.
TTFN!

I am the second on the left.  The babies' daddy is the last on the right.  Everyone else is his family, but no direct blood relations.

Figaro was the elder and he is all the way on the left.

The two between me and the babies' daddy are brother and sister.  I only met them a couple of times and they were less than interested in me and so I can almost remember their names, but not quite.

Family portraits.  They sit still way better than my kids do!!!!

It was a hot and humid summer day when I met my betrothed...

I am getting bored and tired at this point.

Now I am thinking of ways I can be a punk.

Still thinking.

Bene is the one on the right, I think.   Mootsie is the one on the left.  I think.  I am a bit embarrassed to be forgetting the names of my babies' relatives:(  I will have to get the concierge on that to remedy my lapse of memory.

Milo, the babies' daddy.  He was soooo handsome!!  But, I had to explain some stuff to him....

Figaro was a nice old man.

Dreary Day Cookies

My babies' daddy.
Hi G-Fans!
Another day.  This one was an overcast coolish day.  We had a good walk to the bog in the dusk.  Some pretty colorful skies and very calm pond water.  We are suppose to endure some big storm activity on Friday.  I would rather pass on that.  I would rather have my walk and enjoy the smells and NOT have a storm.  I think Tessa can agree with me on that.  So can Riley.
I have to say I am a bit miffed.  The concierge went to that place she goes when she isn't here.  And we waited for our cookies.  And we waited.  And we waited.  No one came.  Lunchtime came and went.  Nothing.  Luckily it was a dreary day, so we mostly slept through the being neglected part of the day.  Finally our human grandpa came and we were very happy to see him because that means we get extra cookies.  He sometimes loses track who has got how many cookies so he gives us extra for good measure.  That's what grandpas do.  They pretend to be forgetful so they can get away with more stuff.  But really, they are just tired of all the rules and they like to give their "grandkids" extra cookies.  So all was good.  The birds liked having their vegetables for longer too.  The concierge says it isn't good for them, that too much bacteria can build up and make them sick.  But they seem o.k. for right now.  It is definitely scarier on the humid hot days.
Well, I guess that is it for tonight.
Remember to treat yourself to an extra cookie!  It is good for you!!

Forty Winks

Hi G-Fans!
Another lovely sunny fall day.  A less than stellar walk, but a reasonable walk.  We had lots of visits today while the concierge was in places elsewhere.  As I scan the domicile this evening I see several very relaxed and passed out individuals and they aren't all four-leggeds... !
I would like to address one insolent and defiant young lady who thought she would share inappropriate information last night to the general public.  Let me tell you, her indiscretion has not gone unnoticed.  There will be repercussions.    But not tonight, everyone is just too peaceful (at least since the concierge removed the fat stuffed hedgehoggy-thing).
So, my thought for tonight.... Purr while you sleep, and sleep like you deserve it (Snagglepus asked me to include the purring thing, he didn't think it would be possible to have a great sleep without some soothing purring to lull a body into a lovely deep sleep).
So sweet dreams to all... may you find the wind in your hair as you stick your head out of the window during the thrill of the chase as you catch forty winks.
TTFN.

Coziness :)
There is some kind of party going on, with frivolity and joviality!
I got the skunk.  I got the bone.  Life is good.....

Can you see me now?  Is it time for my close-up?
A thoughtful moment....

The camera loves me!!
A little clip of us scuttling about.

Tess speaks out...

Hi G-Fans!
This is Tessa.  I couldn't let another day go past with all this "royalty" nonsense from my Mom.  I know, I know, enough with the bodily functions....But Mom says she was shocked and whatnot with the burping and farting episodes from her concierge.  I am sorry, but that is ridiculous.  There is so much burping and farting going on in this house that it almost is white noise around here!  I will admit that it has improved since we started on our new food a while back.  But, we are dogs.  Farting and burping it's what we do.  In addition to eating and chewing on inappropriate things of course.  My point is, the whole chagrinistic posture is bogus.  There is no way it is surprising that these things are occurring, from the concierge or otherwise.  No way at all.
I could tell you about other un-royal-like behavior that happens around here as well.  But, I am sworn to secrecy.  Mostly for my benefit, since  I am the best at the suspect behavior, but for everyone else's benefit too.  The concierge wants us to keep quiet on one of our favorite pastimes.  She seems to get pretty worked up when we indulge ourselves.
Well, my time is up and I need to gather some of the soft toys to pile onto my bed.  A new hedgehog was broken out earlier tonight along with a little skunk and funny looking bear.  I grabbed the big hedgehog.  Or maybe it is a boar.
Anyway, I will excuse my self.
