Little Bats

Hi G-Fans!
Well, I know, "we" missed an entry.
I was more than ready, the concierge just couldn't follow through...
First it was wait until she did this, then it was wait until she did that, before I knew it she was swaddled up in a cozy blanket passed out on the couch thinking about dessert.....
She didn't get up until after midnight, at which point she made the executive decision (which is most certainly not in her pay grade) to do the blog in the morning with me.  Well, you know how that went.  It was the same thing all over again.  First let me do this, then it was let me do that, and before I knew it she was having brunch with Harry's older human sister and his concierge and then she took off to do errands.
Then she came back for five minutes, left again.  Then we had our very late walk after our late supper.  And another glorious sunny breezy day came to an end.  I didn't let her off the hook tonight.  She did fall asleep, but I stared at her until she got up again, and snorted and sighed so she would get to work.
The things I have to go through for service around here.
So, to let you know  about our walks.
We saw a spectacular sunset Friday night.  We left late for the bog, but brought our headlamps for the way home, just to make sure we had nothing creep up on us....
We saw a couple of bats, but the night was a tad cool, so we didn't see a lot.
Tonight we left even later, but had Harry and his concierge in tow.  We didn't bring headlamps.
It was a warmer night and we saw many more cute little bats, and some of them swooped pretty close to our heads.  It was very exciting, let me tell you!  Raphael was particularly jazzed up.  The concierge had zero patience for him tonight, however.  He stayed on a short leash (kind of like going on the short bus for school I would imagine) for most of the walk "to keep him under wraps" as the concierge would say.
He got feisty with humans (just excited barking), but the concierge was fed up and let him know it was unacceptable.  As long as the leash stayed short, he managed to be gentlemanly.  When he had some leeway, he was obnoxious.  So, short it was...
The itchies have returned for Raphael and Tessa, so far the spread of red bumps has been kept at bay, but there is scratching going on even with internal and external treatments.
Always something these days....
Today (or was it yesterday?) Tess and I had a grand time digging our way to the inner core of the earth.  The part we didn't like was getting our beards cleaned off by the concierge, she is such an angry elf lately.  Very irritable.  We are going to have a talk if it doesn't dissipate soon.  I suspect it might be the hot itchies she has too.  So she Raphael and Tess are all having skin irritation from an unknown source.  Maybe I need to check on all that and take charge.
Anyway,
Sorry for the delayed message and silence....
I will be more proactive with the concierge and make sure her distractions include me and my blog...!
May your distractions add a fullness to your life, that enhancers your life and doesn't diminish your existence.....

Sparkly Stars

Hi G-Fans!
We had another glorious summer day with lots of activities.  Some guy we never met came over for awhile and put holes in the walls, and put up things so we can see better.  Personally, I don't think it is necessary.  I see just fine with my nose.  But I guess the concierge is getting old and needs some extra wattage to help her through.
Overall I think we like this guy.  He is pretty quiet so we were pretty quiet after awhile.  I think I made sure he knew the rules, everything goes through me or it doesn't go through.  I told him a few times, Raphael, of course, tried to help, especially since he had things like flashlights attached to his tool belt.  Very intoxicating.
Harry got it from both ends.  Two guys hanging out in his yard making sawdust and then some guy at our house, he was inundated!
So, we have been busy!
We had a late night walk as the concierge did her usual Thursday night stint.
It was a very comfortable and sparkly star-lit night.
SO, may you take time to breathe in the stars and moon on a regular basis.

Rustling leaves....

Hi G-Fans!
Well, here I lounge across the couch longing to retire into my royal boudoir.  Just because it is a little rank outside we are schlepping it for the night and sleeping on the couch as if we are commoners.  And the day had been going so well...
I will say, however, the concierge came home at lunch with the promise of a walk before she went back to work, but she had to leave abruptly due to forgetfulness.  She left that small device that makes funny noises, from time to time (sometimes it even chirps), especially in the morning (it seems to get her up in the morning or from a nap....).
Anyway, we still had a really nice bog walk with very little distractions.  We did "meet" a red squirrel that the concierge thought was a chipmunk or bird, but upon further investigation we determined that it was a red squirrel.  Very exciting.  It rustled quite a bit before climbing a tree in front of us.
Other than that, it was a warm sunny summery day.
So, may there be sunshine in your inner landscape every day.

Expect the Unexpected!

Hi G-Fans!
Well, expect the unexpected!
Today was Tuesday - Right?
I mean, that is the concierge's normal work week,   And things seemed "business as usual" this morning.  The usual routine of first morning potty breaks, breakfast, teas for the concierges, cat breakfast, bird breakfast, shower for the concierge, scooping the yard of our debris, dishes and breakfast for the concierge.... normal enough.
Then our morning nappies.
Next thing you know, I am having a delicious dream and I am unceremoniously awoken to the concierge arriving home.  It wasn't even 10:30 yet!
So we had a midday walk!  FULL bog walk on this warm sunny summer day.....
WOW!
It was awesome.
We protected the concierge and helper from an elderly nature lover and two people walking a LEASHED large dog.
We are sooooo GOOD!
And then we even had time to take a nap before the concierge left for more work, which she was gone longer than this morning, but still, she had dinner and has been a dullard hanging around not being very interesting.  I am sure she has plenty to do.....
But, not my call.....
So, may you find time to chill your heels and enjoy it!

The Inner Gorgeous

Hi G-Fans!
Another glorious summer day with sun and warm breezes.  Not that I was able to enjoy much of it.  The weekend is officially over.  We got the perfunctory "outs" and cookies, but no sumptuous lounging and whatnot.  The concierge worked and we did a night time school walk.  Adequate smell-wise, but not the greatest!
There were no knocked out screens today, or escaped kitties, or other mishaps to the day.  Miss Sophie continues to make a racket in her suite upstairs.... apparently she thinks she is a bird and will perch atop of the rounded cage.  She sloshes the water bowl about which gets all over the place.  The concierge hopes that by removing an out-of-the-cage perch all will calm down.  Sophie was using it as a spring board to get on top... we will see if it was not really necessary or if it was.....
So, not much else to report, aside from the concierge carrying on about some random papers.  She is so silly sometimes!
Well, I must retire for my beauty rest, I don't stay gorgeous by neglecting my rest and relaxation needs!
So, may you cultivate your inner gorgeous on a daily basis!

Good communication is key...

Hi G-Fans!
Well, I prefer to call it effective communication.
The concierge, on the other paw, seems to think she should call it barfing.
I wanted the concierge to know that the overall abandonment of yesterday was absolutely unacceptable and that it did not go unnoticed nor would it go without incident.
So, once we were snuggled in bed, I threw up, not once, not twice, but five times.  I made my point.
It took some eating of outdoor substances to make sure it would work.  And timing was everything.  It would have been way less meaningful had I done it in the kitchen before retiring to the royal chambers.  I did it twice on the royal puff, twice in the royal staging area and then once (because once one gets going on the vomiting, control of self is limited) in the royal den, as I was relegated there after making my mounds of disgusting slimy debris.
It was worth it.
The smell alone permeated the entire royal domicile and required two rounds of bagging.
Oh, and this was after midnight I believe.
So, it is all about communication.
Just sayin'.
Today I did a similar walk to last week around the ponds.  It was quite enjoyable, although we were a little toasty, it was nice.  I will complain, however, that once we had our constitutional, the concierge disappeared for several hours.  So, we entertained ourselves by barking and general merriment.  The finale was when Raphael pushed the screen out of the kitchen window so Snags could get a little breath of fresh air on the front lawn.  Raphael was also very interested in getting some fresh air by sticking his head through the window to get better views and better sniffs of air.
Harry's concierge spoiled the fun by coming over to shut the sprinklers off.  She returned the screen to its appropriate place, as well as Snags and shut the windows.
Spoil sport.
I don't think the concierge ever knew....
But, since dinner was so stinkin' late I will need to let her know how unacceptable a late meal time is for us..
Hmmmmm......
It needs to be creative.....
Anyway....
May you find effective diversions when confronted with unexpected unscheduled time.....

Questionable activities....

Hi G-Fans!
Well, I am pretty discouraged.  Not only did the helper descent the joint yesterday, but I was pretty much abandoned and neglected today.
It was a gorgeous day and how would I know?
I did get a forest walk, but, man it was dicey.  When we got to the forest the concierge realized the leashes had been left behind in a heap on the couch.
With some spare leashes and ropes she and the other concierges were able to make do and we got our walk.  But, it was looking questionable for a little while.  And, I might add, the regular contingent of spares were sitting on the driveway in a storage bin (that is removed to make room for all of us in the back.....
Not a good system....
Anyway - I did get a walk with a rope tied to Tessa.  I am really glad we didn't pass anyone on the walk.  I would have withered from embarrassment!
So, I slept most of the day away...
SO, may you wake feeling refreshed and ready to greet your daily chores...

Who are these cats?  The concierge did not come home smelling like cats, but yet, she has a picture of them... and they are doing some questionable activities.... That wouldn't fly around here, I can tell you that much!!

Mornings......

Hi G-Fans!
Well, a lazy morning on the concierge's behalf to be sure!
She finally became conscious and upright so she could transcribe my post.
Now, if I can remember what it was I wanted to share.....
Hmmm....
Well, Harry and his concierges have returned in one piece, but without Harry's human sister.
Apparently all went well.
I saw some pictures last night, I approve with reservation, if I can't sniff it, I can't give the two paws up in good conscience.
So, one paw up.  Not to mention this means it will be sometime before we sniff her again:(
Sophie continues to explore when she is released from her "apartment".  Snagglepus continues to be vigilant when she is released as he tries to score her food.
The results from all his tests are that things are good, no organ failures, no diabetes, low thyroid, but not needing medication, and high cholesterol, basically the doc said that he needs to lose weight, and he isn't really on board for that process as far as I can see...... I don't blame him!
The concierge will be taking some more time off in a few weeks for more doctoring stuff.  I like it when she is home, so I am fine with that.  We are waiting to know exactly when.  We thought we would know yesterday, so we are thinking Monday we will know more.... I will keep you posted.
Yesterday we did a partial bog walk in the dusk which was sufficient as long as today's walk is spectacular!
So, I am being rushed so the concierge can finish up her chores to go and do some other stuff.
So, until I blog again adieu, au revoir, ciao, adios, bye,bye-bye, so long, see you later, sayonara, cheers, toodle-oo!
May the morning greet you with a hug and a kiss!

Time is relative

Hi G-Fans!
Yesterday seems so long ago!
Today I had two walks.  One was very exciting as we witnessed an altercation in the middle of the road.  It made the concierge ultra cautious the remainder of the walk as some of us almost became one with the pavement when the one vehicle peeled onto our street and almost mowed us down.  At least he apologized for nearly ruining our night.
Humans and their emotions.
Ridiculous really.
I think he was upset for the other vehicle almost causing an accident, but then he almost caused two; pulling to a dead stop in the middle of a very busy road.
Yikes!
People!
So, the concierge seems to think she is leaving before she feeds us tomorrow morning ... we'll see.
Time to tuck her into bed...
May all your winks be restful ones.

Balance the positives

Hi G-Fans!
I heard "walk" and "school", but I never saw any leashes or sneakers pulled out......
So, no walk tonight, and I don't think that was the plan.
I heard, "I just need to shut my eyes for 15 minutes".   Then, two hours later the concierge pulled out of her coma long enough to answer some emails and write this for me and drink some potion that she drinks nearly every night.  It doesn't smell very appealing to me.  Not like the hot cocoa.  That smells really good.  Or the apple cider heated.  I like the smell of that too.  Not that she shares those with me.....  Maybe she should think about that......
Nothing much else to report other than it was another gorgeous day and we did get outside at lunchtime a few times.
Oh - how could I forget?  That helper dude is going against the grain!  He de-scented several rooms tonight.  I am outraged.  That was just a sneak attack.  Unfair tactics to be sure.
I am going to have to do some crowding techniques to let him know how displeased I am with his choices.
I have to be careful though, he does give me dinner frequently and I would hate to miss my dinner for a difference in acceptable scent practices.  Just sayin'...
Also, we miss Mr. Potter who is staying with his grammy while his human sister his deposited to parts unknown.  We miss her too.  (The included pictures are in her honor.... )   This is going to be as strange year......
So, may you balance your impulses with thoughtful ruminations so only the most positive light shines forth from your being.....

I shouldn't have to beg!

Hi G-Fans!
I shouldn't have to beg!   But beg I did, "Please, can we do it NOW?"  Over and over and I got the same mumbled zombie response, "in a minute...."  As she trailed off staring at that stupid "free" tablet that she loaded with games "for work". She says that she has to learn the games so she can use them for work.... I dunno, I am suspicious.   She is getting a glazed look on her face and getting obsessed with colored shapes jelly squares and singing monsters and breeding new breeds.  "Just let me get this level.... then I will write with you...."  I think she needs an intervention.  This has developed in only a matter of a few days, it is serious!
On other subjects....  Harry's sister and his concierges (and him for that matter) all left this afternoon.  As far as I can gather his human sister is going away somewhere to do new things for something, it sounds like obedience school only longer.  Harry went to stay at his grandma's while the concierges settle his sister into her away training.  We all got kisses, but I noticed Snagglepus got extra.....  Yes, I do notice these things.
At least we had a nice forest walk today.  We got wind of turkey, quail (it flew into the trees when we were on top of it - exciting), deer and other dogs and humans..... it was a smellorific walk!   The concierge and the helper enjoyed watching the silently swishing as the deer disappeared into the brushy woods.....
And the concierge is happy since the front "junk" was finally removed after many months of it bugging her.... I came out to supervise, especially during the clean up - the rest of the gang stayed in and watched from the window, I cavorted a bit extra for their benefit.  No one else is allowed to cavort on the front lawn untethered.  I savored it.
So, loads more, but the concierge won't get up in the morning if I go on any more....
So, may you enjoy gloriously fabulous summer days like today frequently!

It is not over until the grossly obese lady sings.....

Hi G-Fans!
Well, all we can depend on is change.... wouldn't you agree?
All the manipulations and scheduling gymnastics only to be called off due to a technicality.
The concierge has the details, when she starts going on a rant, I only hear the first few word to get the subject and the rest is like the adults in a Peanut Comic, "WaWa WaWa WaWaaaaaa".  Basically, the bottom line, my afternoon is looking good. When before it looked bleak.  This morning I was going to be abandoned with my posse, now there will be cavorting and revelry.  I just don't get why the concierge is whining so much about it.
OK, so she is going to pay the piper on Friday morning.  She said she is going to have to get up at 4:00 a.m. like before.  But, SHE HAS THE AFTERNOON FREE!  WITH THE HELPER!!!  How great is that???
All because (we think) someone is new at their job.... or something along those lines.  Misunderstandings.  Humans have lots of them.  Not that dogs are immune, but generally, we get the idea across consistently.  You sniff my butt, I will sniff yours and we will have a greater understanding of how everyone is.....  I think humans might want to consider more butt sniffing, it cuts out a lot of jabber.  Just sayin'...
So, no further details until Friday for now.....  I will keep you as posted as I can stand.
So, back to today.  What a glorious day!  Another beaut!!
We did a 7/8ths bog walk (or something like that).  RIley struggled on the uphills, he has the last few times we have been, before it was the humidity, today it was because he fell trying to leap into the royal caravan yesterday.  He screamed this morning and scared the concierge.  Me too.  But she rubbed his butt (see, it is all about taking care of our butts) and legs and then had to carry him down the stairs.  After that he was stiff, but comfortable and able to motor about.  Oh, btw, don't tell the concierge I told you that..... she said to tell you something else, but if nothing else, I believe in the truth of reporting....!
So, tonight all is fine and he did the walk with us and only struggled with the inclines.
We will see what tomorrow brings us.
Sophie is getting more and more comfortable (brazen) and is always striving to get higher and higher.
She seems to get the "no counter" rule.   But then, she isn't able to roam freely unless someone human is around to keep an eye on her.
So, may you roll with the changes presented on a daily basis and find the joy and uplift where you can....

Below are some pictures of Tessa and Bertie surveying the pond that was the first departure point of their first escape adventure when they were just young'uns.....

In A Nutshell...

Hi G-Fans!
Due to the concierge's new found distraction I am allotted only a few short minutes of sharing.
So, in a nutshell...
Overall:  Nice day with scattered showers that lasted for only a few minutes.

Walk:  Forest, newish path, Raphael was thwarted from 4 toad killings/suckings, the humans saw a deer, we smelled one.

Meals:  On time, adequate, nothing special.

Treats:  Ditto.

Sophie:  Acclimating nicely.  More relaxed interactions than tense, no dumped plants or furniture that we know of....

Concierge:  Sore, tired, starting back to work tomorrow.  Tuesday she gets the full picture of the oncoming treatments... upcoming?  Whichever.  And the former babysitter goes to Boston tomorrow for a recheck on his condition.....

Ancillaries:  Harry's sister goes far away to college on Tuesday and we won't see her for some time.  Harry's concierges will escort her so Harry and Snow Angel will be in our care for 2-3 days.

So, may you kiss your loved ones good night in the most genuine of ways....

Some chores mixed with distractions

Hi G-Fans!
Well, another glorious summer day.  The concierge laid low while we spent a relaxed day hanging out.  Then we explored a new path around two of our favorite ponds.  It was, again, very relaxing (and exciting from all the fresh scents we were picking up).  On the dirt road on the way to the place to park we saw a red fox.  A bushy tailed red fox.  The helper saw it head to toe, the concierge only saw the haunches and tail.  But, it was a white tipped , black ringed, red, bushy tail!  Very exciting.  We were so well behaved all day, and on the walk too!
I have to say the concierge was a bit distracted.  She seems very glued to her device that doesn't ring.  She seemed, dare I say, a bit obsessed.... I was a bit worried that I wasn't getting a walk or dinner.  She somehow pulled herself away to achieve those activities.  She forbade me to say anything so I really can't embellish more.  Suffice it to say, she fell prey to games that only humans would find funny or interesting.
The concierge declared today a day of just breathing day.
She actually did more than that as the laundry was cleaned and put away, some more stuff was removed from the counter, the bills were organized, Bertie, Tessa and Snagglepus had their ears cleaned, Snagglepus and Sophie had their parasite protection applied.....  She also tested out some new fashion items that worked well, she whined less today.  What a relief!
Well, she whined less if you don't count the organizing of the bills, she groaned a lot when she was doing that....
So, I know I missed a lot in the last few days to share with you, but c'est la vie!
May you have days that breathing is perfectly sufficient of an excuse to take up space!

What did I tell you?

Hi G-Fans!
What did I tell you?  Sophie just disses her collar and take a gander at who scooped it up....  Surprise!  I don't think it will fit him, but he is just as happy toting it around dangling from his mouth.  See pictures below....
Well, the concierge took advantage of the day by bringing us to some "new" dog walks.  It was nice getting a  break from everyone.  And we didn't have Riley (sorry old man) slowing us down.  It was just Harry, Raphael and myself on the first walk and we did some new paths, as the old one has been blocked off due to erosion issues.  So that was exciting.
Tess, Bertie and Riley did a different version of the walk at a different end.  They reported enjoying their time in the car unsmooshed with everyone and walking in a "new" area.  (I put "new" in quotation marks because they are walks we have done, but just not recently at all.  So all the smells are very new and exciting.)
Everyone is making fun of the concierge wearing her new jeans.  She doesn't seem to care a heck of lot.   She tells the troglodytes that they are very comfortable and she doesn't care that they are loose.  She has never been a slave to fashion, that's for sure!
She left right after she fed us tonight and went to the city for follow-up tests.  She was not very excited to be going, but at least Harry's concierge went too so she could keep an eye on her and do the driving.  That is helpful.  I know how much the concierge likes to fall asleep in the car, which is pretty awkward if she is the one driving.... even I know that!
So, may you have a bff who is willing to drive you to destinations unknown, just because you are you :)
