Shy Lady

Hi G-Fans!
Boy oh boy oh boy!
Whatta storm last night!
The concierge had her hands full with a bunch of scaredy cats wearing dog costumes!  Mind you, I am not overly bothered by thunder and lightning, but it seems that everyone is getting more and more sensitive to these light and sound shows and I am starting to wonder if they know something I might not.  First it was Riley being scared.  Then it was Tessa who was being REALLY scared. Now Raphael.  I'd hate to nuzzle out who might be next to fall prey to "being ridiculous" (as commented by the concierge).  It was so outrageous last night that Raphael was trying to climb the gates, nothing calmed him down except being up the hiney of the concierge.  So, after several approaches by the concierge were exhausted, she, being exhausted, chose to sleep on the couch which actually worked.
The rain pelted, the skies lit up and the thunder boomed.  Riley panted most of the night, but at least he didn't fall off the bed last night.  Or the couch, which he did yesterday as well.
So, that's the big excitement.
We did a full bog walk that was rife with Lady slippers and paltry in excitement.  This obsession the concierge is having is a bit out of paw and I am thinking I may have to resort to an intervention.  You know, stomp on every blossom that is stopped at to be admired.  I am a dog after all, I step all over things.  Easy enough to enlist the help of my posse.  I point in whatever direction, they will go to town.  And they would be innocently clueless!
So, if you hear about a  rampant rampage of Lady slipper destruction, I plead the fifth.  What, are they going to throw a dog in jail for stepping on flowers?
Oh, the concierge just told me that she could be the one thrown in jail if I instigated my evil plan.  Then the cookies would more than likely stop, and the cushy life as we know it probably would alter significantly.  I guess I will think on that some more.  Regardless.... she needs to chill on the flower thing.
May your obsessions be ones of excellence, love, grace and beauty :)

Fresh Lady

Hi G-Fans!
Well, we have had some kind of day today.  It was POURING this morning right around breakfast, so the concierge waited to feed us so when we were through eating we wouldn't drown when we went out to go potty.  Or... so we wouldn't pretend for two seconds to take care of business and turn around and come in pronto.
Then it became clear and pleasant as the day progressed.
So, tonight we had our full bog walk after we ate dinner with a pretty sunset, but, before the concierge and her friends ate.
So we were pretty much thrown into the house upon our return so they could race to a place to pick up ocean food.  I got my digs in though.  I snuggled up to a spot to hang in that is normally where Riley hangs, and so I stayed put even when the concierge, keys in hand, went outside to find me and call me and did a full check of the yard and two checks of the house looking for me.  I just watched.  Have you ever observed people dispassionately?  Even though you might be at the center of the unfolding drama?  I watched as my name was repeatedly called outside (that doesn't count as disobedience, it was an experiment) and as the concierge started getting the pinched look and pursed lips from being worried.  FInally someone realized that Riley was standing next to them and his usual bed still had a body in it.  I never moved.
So I had some fun with that.  But, I have to admit, the concierge got me one better.  When they all returned from their shortish expedition they smelled like salt water crustaceans mixed with mayo and cabbage.  I was miffed at being left out of that!  I just got the usual cookie.  Nothing more or less (although, this morning we had tuna juice with breakfast)....So, aside from Riley mysteriously falling off the bed at some point last night, (and appears to be ok), those are the highlights of the day.
May you share, with your friends, even when they are four-legged, when you get a special meal spur of the moment.

Im-/Ex-prisonment Revisited

Body parts abound......
Hi G-Fans!
Well, I let it pass for a few days, but I can't let it go yet another.  Did you see the pictures a few days ago?
As I mentioned, "Dis-Grace-Ful"!
Are we being imprisoned or "exprisoned"?  Kept in or kept out?  Retained or restrained?
Imagine being cooped up all day with the same faces day in and day out, with the same habits, preoccupations, predilections and predispositions.... Likely to drive you nuts.  Right?
Well, guess what?  It is driving us all nuts.  Now, for the icing on the cake, imagine bars maintaining superficial boundaries making you feel like and appear like a common criminal.  I mean, if you are going to be treated as a jailbird, at least it can be country club jail and not proletarian jail.  Highbrow incarceration, that would be preferable.  If a princess can't expect a modicum of accommodation than what good is it to be of a royal lineage?  Really, I want to know, what?
Vernacularly vulgar, that's what.
The concierge thought it was amusing that we were trying our best to get our needs met despite the ugly boundaries.
I firmly protest at the plebeian brigand-like treatment.
And the pictures do not depict an isolated event.  It happens frequently.  And it seems everyone two-legged is ok with it.
So, may your many incarcerations in life may always be ones of dignity and purpose, not repugnant and loathsome.

Not only a bad angle on my classic beauty, but showing off my "alfalfa" too, not very flattering.
In these pictures there is a sense of waiting and wanting.....
C'mon, we have done a sufficient amount of time....... let us in already....

Slippery Slippers

Hi G-Fans!
The slippers have it.  It is slowing our walk up.  The concierge and her two-legged entourage keep scanning the wooded edges of our path and slow down to poke and prod the possibilities.  It is really annoying.  Especially when Bertie is full speed ahead and forgets to pay attention to the rest of us around him.  So, I am usually getting yanked because I am behaving and paying attention to the tenor and tone of our walk and speeding up and slowing down in tandem with the concierge and Riley.  Bertie, not so much.  I will admit I made some sidebar excursions (as far as the tethering allows that is...) tonight while walking the bog.  The concierge is such a control freak.  She dragged me off a very interesting spot.  There was some white tissue involved and she was totally grossed out.  I can't figure her out.  I roll in questionable excrement with the assistance of Riley one time and I am marked forever.  As if.  Well, actually, let's just not go there.  I don't need to confirm or deny any actionable antics.... The fifth, the fifth, the fifth..... that is all I need to say.....
So, may all the words drifting forth from your lips be ones of uplift and non-incriminating.

Double blossoms of the newly "hatched" Ladyslippers.  Not even pink yet.

Behind Bars

Hi G-Fans!
Well, a holiday weekend for some.  Not so much around here.  Between the rain and cleaning and general malaise we have not been doing very holiday-ey things.
But, we did have a wonderfully peaceful walk full of the quiet sounds of nature preparing her daytime residents for sleeping and her evening residents for waking up.  Upon arrival at the bog we witnessed a lone deer high-tailing it into the wooded area away from us.  Then on the swing home we watched three brightly colored orangey-yellow birds making a fuss on the ground and then fly up into the trees.  They were exciting and beautiful to watch.  Other than that, most human excitement was out of our range.  We smelled bbq and saw lots of parked cars and could hear the clinking noises of horseshoes being played in backyards.  But nothing we needed to mind.
The concierge helped celebrate an important birthday so was gone most of the day with that and then had some festivities at the house.  She ate stuff she is going to regret, and I hope she remembers that the next time she stuffs her gob and doesn't think about including any of us in the noshing!  It is dis-grace-ful!!!  It is just wrong on so many levels!
So, I hope you celebrate your holiday and remember to include ALL your family members big and tall, small and all, two legged or four, in or out of the door.
May you not be held in or kept out with bars (physical or mental) of any kind, for any reason, at any time so you may feel like a full fledged member of the community and not only part-time for convenience!
So there!

When did it get to this point?  A total lockout.

All we want is to have some snacks!  We'll be quick!

How can you turn your back on us?  Puleeze?

How much longer can you hold out?  When are you going start to feel bad and let us through?

Please?  Isn't there any way we can get past this barrier?  We smell the cookies!

A little mud never hurt anyone, even when the house has just been cleaned!

Maybe we should get Bertie to talk some sense into the gate keeper.....

The Ladies are here!

Hi G-Fans!
Finally!
The first of the Ladyslippers showed up.  Harry's concierge saw one yesterday and we all found three today.  We've been looking for the last two weeks waiting for a sign.  It seems to me the concierge was talking about seeing them earlier than this last year.  It makes me think of that Cinderella story that I hear about off and on.  I think these slippers are way more beautiful than anything that could be made in glass by a human.  Right now the ones we found are pale and not fully bloomed out, we expect to see them darken up as they open more.
So, today's walk was good because we saw the Ladyslippers.  We also saw two deer as we rounded the corner.  They high-tailed it toute de suite into the safety of cover.  It was dark, drizzly and breezy tonight. So they might not have heard us and we startled them.
Also, I heard the heat go on in the house a little while ago.
It made the hair that didn't get scooped up today poof into the air.
Yes, the concierge cleaned today.
Grrrr.
The usual complaints on that with the rainy weather thrown in.
She didn't make us wait outside like usual, but we still were out there for a little too long.
Just sayin'.
So, time to turn in and finish catching up on my wellness sleep.
May you find the magic in each breath you take.

Ladyslipper...

Lasyslipper in the rain.

Peony blossoms

Peony blossoms

See how attentive I am to the concierge?  See how everyone else is acting out, looking away, etc...?

The concierge thought it was important for everyone to see my bad hair from the rain.  Nice.  I am going to need some therapy soon if she doesn't stop teasing me.

Another Ladyslipper :)

Nocturnal Spewing

Hi G-Fans!
Well, it was a gray rainy sort of day!
And that is how I felt, under the weather.
Last night (early this morning) I lost my cookies.  The concierge seemed to think she had to make a big deal about it and send me outside in the pouring rain while she ripped the cover off the bed and took care of the vomit getting so soaked from the rain she had to change her pjs.
Then we had to sleep on the couch after I came back in.  I don't get it.  I was fine to sleep on the bed next to the barf.
Harry's concierge tattled that I did it a little more throughout the day.  Not as much as the night, but still....
Apparently Harry did the same exact thing.
I still feel off and I think I should close for tonight.
So, I wish for you a weekend that has sunshine on the inside!
Be well!

PS - I tried to include some pictures, but I think there are some technical difficulties because they aren't working and I have tried to attach them for at least an hour, so I need to get my wellness rest and let it go for tonight.

deniably clean....

Blossom time!
Hi G-Fans!
We had rain and lots and lots of clouds today.  Overall a good day, just very cloudy and overcast.
A mediocre walk.  We went to the school.  And we didn't get wet surprisingly enough.  We seemed to time our walk just right rain-wise.  Even for our last outs, just missed the rain.  I can hear it now though.
Cookies are always nice no matter when we get them.
I can tell you that someone is on my angry list.  He messed with my beard and my feet this morning and I would like to say the concierge didn't know about it.  I had water thrown in my face and I was thrown into the pool.  Yes, physically put into the pool.  I am sure to hear him tell about it I was gently washed from head to toe and coaxed patiently into the pool to rinse my feet.  The part about that the head and the toes were cleaned is true, but nothing in between, however, was cleaned, nor was it a gentle part of my experience.  It is very hard to even bring up the whole incident I was so traumatized.
I will say, Bertie got some of the same, and he was not nearly as agreeable as I was about it.  Tsk Tsk....
So, another night, another sleepy concierge.  She promises to make it up to me this weekend.  We will see.  There are so many things that are on the weekend docket I am dubious.
We shall see.
May you find fun wherever you find yourself.

302 comes after 301

Hi G-Fans!
I can continue to report pleasant weather as a rule with some rain, but nothing to spoil my fun.
There are plenty of other things going on in this house to do that!
Let's just start with the insurrectionary behavior of the concierge.
All was well this morning until it became apparent that one of us was joining the concierge for work.  Now, I was a main staple of the work scene for many years and I am an experienced paw at that sort of thing.  Raphael would go sometimes with Tessa and Bertie even less than him.
Zzzzz, this time it was Raphael, and based on all the hemming and hawing I had to endure when they returned at lunch, he will be going again sometime soon.
Now granted, he is my son and I do have pride in how well he behaves and interacts with others, but sometimes it is just enough already with the blah blah blah accolades.
I want to hear about me.
So, while they were gone I left a little message.  A little something I learned watching the Godfather.  No, I didn't put a horsehead in the concierge's bed, but I did swipe the empty toothpaste box on the kitchen counter.  After I shredded it a little  I let Tessa have it.  Now, I am sure you are thinking, "Isn't that nice?".  But let's be real.  By letting Tessa have it I divert suspicion.  She is a hoarder and when the concierge gets home guess who will have the contraband in her possession?  That's right.... NOT ME!
Anyway, I better wrap this up so the concierge can function tomorrow, she keeps banging her head on the wall as it falls backwards while she is typing.  Awkward!.  It's another long day and she won't have us helping her out tomorrow.
So, long story short, it had better be me or no one helping out with the work stuff.
May you find ultra pleasant ways to "while away the hours"....

Hi G-Fans!
Can you believe that tonight's entry is #301 since I started blogging in July?!?!?
Hard to believe I actually might have so much to say.
(When I am not falling asleep or the concierge is not falling asleep).

Well, another crazily fabulous day which whipped into a thunder storm while the concierge was still working.  You would think we suffered without help, but Harry 's concierge came over to keep us calm.  We don't react well to the thunder and lightning these days.

We saw the concierge for lunch today and she gave us these new "cookies".  We couldn't "wolf" them down (should I have written "dog them down"?).  They were too hard and big.  And wheat-free so Tessa wasn't left out.  The concierge had to split us up since Tessa hoards and Raphael doesn't share well and might choke because he tries to eat it so fast and then steal someone else's.  They were good and no one has had any problems that I am aware of.....
So, may you weather the storms of life with gratitude and good humor and a treat or two.

That Fox

Hi G-Fans!
Well, another Monday come and almost gone!
And a full bog walk :)
And a beautiful sunset :)
And that sassy fox, AGAIN!
The concierge is thinking that there is something wrong with it since it doesn't show any fear and doesn't change what it is doing or retreat.  Either that or it is a youngster and doesn't know any better yet.
We didn't go crazy for it because the concierge didn't let on about it until after we were well past it for the second time on our walk.
It was a red fox.
It seemed to be taking a dust bath like a chinchilla.
Have you ever seen a chinchilla?
Me neither.
But I have smelled  them on the concierge before.
Anyway.
That's it for excitement for us.
We still smell like shampoo and startle each other since we expect to smell their regular smell.  It is hardest on Harry, we think he might need corrective lenses.  Shhhh.  Don't say anything,  His concierge will get worked up about it.  So, just between you and I..... He needs some help, so the bath confuses him the most since he is relying on visuals to assist him in  identification of all of us.
So may you be ramped up just enough to get that extra tweak out of your day!

Raphael says, "Have you seen THIS bone yet?  It is sooo awesome!"

I can hear the concierge talking outside the door, she is so rude for keeping me out of the loop!  I will wait here and whine softly to remind her of proper protocol and etiquette!

Raphael says, "Post bath blues!  When are we walking?  Now?  How 'bout now?  Now?"

Bertie says, "He needs to learn to chillax!"

Riley says, "Amen to that!"

Tessa says, "That's right, the two most wound up and anxious members of the tribe are recommending that someone ELSE "chillaxes"!  Don't throw stones if you live in glass houses!   That's my motto!"
