Lady Slippers.....

Hi G-Fans!
Well, it's another Saturday night!
These weeks just keep coming and going!
It seems nearly impossible to get all my beauty rest in with all the activity that goes on around here.
*********
Well, now it is Sunday night!
Apparently the concierge and I both needed our beauty sleep more than getting my thoughts down last night.
I don't even remember what I wanted to share about yesterday.  We did a late forest walk and the concierge kept holding us up with taking pictures of Lady Slippers, she brought her mambo camera with her, not just the little skinny one that she talks at sometimes.... I asked her to include pictures that she took.  I pretended at one point during the walk to not notice the delicate pink flower with the big green leaves and appeared to be about to stomp on one.... ooooh, some people just can't take a joke!  My head was yanked and pulled with fierceness.  I was just joking for goodness sake.  No need for the brutality!  Aside from that, the walk was nice, full of really good turkey smells... and other things....
The concierge had some out of the house stuff to do in the afternoon, but before that she and Harry's concierge were scuttling about upstairs working together on some project for somebody I don't know.  Luckily they were able to complete the project, unfortunately  they were inaccessible most of the day for us.
Then the evening and into the bewitching hour there was mad concoctions being assembled involving a six-pound can of green beans.  The busy-ness didn't end.  So, how could I expect to squeeze secretarial services out of her on top of that?
So, now, today....
We were headed to the forest today at an earlier, before-dinner time and took an unexpected turn.  Which made Harry's concierge lose us.  So they continued onto the forest and we went on to another locale.  We had an ok walk.  It was stop and go in some ways.  We were headed to the bog from the "back door" until there were kids sighted, so we re-routed and walked towards the next entry opportunity until the concierge noticed something moving towards us.  Quickly.  We didn't get excited.  It continued to head straight towards us without slowing down.  As it got closer the concierge determined it was the fox we saw last week.  She made the executive decision to back off and re-route - again!!  So, we had a walk, and there was some good parts, but it wasn't the one we had planned on to be sure.
And then she quickly ditched us.
AGAIN!
Our supper was late.
It also had a lot of add-ins, including green beans.  I suspect that will be our staple add-in for another few weeks....
But. I will say, at least we missed the rain on the walk.  Tessa, however, has been shaking because there was thunder and lightning during the storm... and now I will have to get out there shortly for the last outing for the evening...  I really should investigate getting an indoor potty park....
Oh, and another thing, there has been a systematic removal of the roaming mice.  Two down, ? to go....  the concierge bought an electrocution box so they don't suffer.  The helper has been dealing with that.  She wishes she could get them to relocate so she didn't have to resort to warfare tactics, but they are getting out of control!  I think the bedroom episode was the last straw.
Oh, and another thing.  I overheard that we are getting a babysitter next week.  A BABYSITTER!!  What is up with that!?!?  DItched - AGAIN!
This is ridiculous.
SO, when others' plans go against your grain, maintain your composure, sense of adventure, and humor!

Peace Out....

Hi G-Fans!
Well, another glorious day.
They just keep coming.
Kind of like those bunny rabbits who are torturing us.
Bertie knocked over a plant and made a mess.  Harry's concierge covered him so he wouldn't get into trouble like he did first thing this morning.  He didn't listen on two occasions and he got a barrage of verbal  tongue lashing for not being a good boy.  We won't get into it more than that.
So, Snagglepus was whisked away first thing this morning.  The concierge blew out of here earlier than usual and later than she should have.  But, it all worked out.  And Snagglepus only had to stay the morning.... they took the tests he needed right away, so he was able to go home before lunch.  We will find out tomorrow if he needs anything to be adjusted.  Now he is on two pills,   One will only be for a couple of weeks, so that is good, since the concierge's fingers are getting worn down to stubs with all the pill popping she is doing Snagglepus (Snagglepus has stopped taking the treat-wrapped pills willingly, so they are now being unceremoniously shoved down his throat).....
So, because everyone changed plans we not only had a late dinner, we had a broken walk.  Raphael and I went first (of course).  We went to the bog.  It was very still and quiet down there.  Raphael, however got into trouble for bike riding children.... he gets so worked up..... I really don't know where he gets that from!?
And Bertie and Tessa went second and they went to the school without nary an incident.
Figures.
So, may you walk into every situation with a peaceful heart.

...Count it all joy......

Hi G-Fans!
So, the concierge has sat down long enough to post something for you before she slips into a temporary coma.
Today was another nice day, although I heard that thunderstorms were expected.  Thankfully they never arrived.  We hate thunderstorms.  The concierge enjoys them.  Except for the fact that we don't like them, so, in some ways she doesn't like them these days either.
We join good company too.  Hitchcock used to try and squeeze behind the toilet when there was a thunderstorm.  Hitchcock was a very tall and furry St. Bernard.  I didn't know him personally, but I have heard stories.
Apparently he was a character.  Where my bud Schubert was calm and cuddly, Hitchcock was high strung and busy.  He was ALWAYS jumping the back yard fence and visiting the neighborhood folks.
He would ALWAYS take off on walks in search for water drink and swim or deer to chase.
He was  a pip, as the concierge would say.
He was also a dog who had IBS, a SAINT BERNARD with IBS....
Yes, it was a mess, or so I have heard....
So, we enjoyed a bog walk in the dusk.  Raphael was on high alert. he smelled something out there.
On the return trek home the little puppy that has been on my radar screen was out with his small human.  It was a Jack Russell.  I decided I needed a closer look.  So, I removed my restraints and got in the puppy's face.  I thoroughly checked it out while Raphael was going wild with jealousy.  I ignored the concierge until I was completed in my task.  Then I pretended it was business as usual.  Of course the concierge thought it was a good time to chew my ear off, with a lotta yatta yatta yatta!  She can be such a boor!
Then, we were at our driveway and something was across the street.  Coyote pup?  Fox cub?  Stray dog?  The concierge hustled us into Harry's yard before there was a problem.  The helper hustled Bertie and Tessa in the front door.  Tragedy was averted, but our curiosity is now piqued.  It is always something!
So, may you not allow life's circumstances dictate your joy.

This is from years ago, but Hitchcock is the one at the igloo doorway....

7-1

Hi G-Fans!
I know, I know, I missed yesterday.  It wasn't me, the concierge was so tied up in the helper's birthday hellabaloo that she was too tired to help a royal out.  I had a lot to say too.
Let's start with the bike ride I wasn't invited to be part of, yup, they left me home so they could RIDE IN THE FOREST!
When they came back we went to the bog, then they blew out of here to enjoy The Helper's Birthday dinner at a special restaurant.. WITHOUT ME!
How can anyone enjoy themselves by leaving loved ones behind?!?!?!
Anyway....... on our walk to the bog there was a sassy fox who didn't seem to care that we were there.  The concierge had us all turn around since it really wasn't vacating.... This was concerning...
So, the "7" refers to the concierge sighting seven Lady Slippers, finally, between her bike ride and our bog walk. She has been diligently combing the landscape on every walk for the last two weeks in hopes of seeing some.  She saw six on the bike ride and one on the walk.  The"1" refers to seeing the same one last night in the very dusky dusk on the path to the bog.  They used a flashlight to see it.  So, for the concierge, deep spring is really here.
So, I am so very disturbed.  The concierge has elicited the help of Harry's human sister to do her dirty work.  Literally.
She thoroughly de-scented the domicile yesterday and it is off-the-charts distressing.
It is bad enough that the concierge will do this.  It is bad enough we had baths a few days ago.  Now the last shreds of scent have been vacuumed, mopped and thrown away.
Disturbing.
And, on top of that, if that wasn't enough, the concierge is falling asleep on me when I want to do an entry on the blog.  Last night was ridiculous.  I was going to keep it short and everything.
So, for you fans who notice a glitch in my check-in schedule, I apologize!  It is not for lack of trying.  But without those opposable thumbs and fingers that possess dexterity, or a voice that is recognized by the computer, I rely on the increasingly unreliable concierge.
Grrr.
So, may you forgive those who disturb your comfort zone and find ways to create new niches of comfort.

Such a Horror Story!

Hi G-Fans!
If you are squeamish you might not want to read on....
Today the unimaginable happened.
The concierge threatened weekend after weekend, but to no account.
So, I was comfortable in my assumption that this weekend would go the same.
WRONG!
SOOOO WRONG!
First of all, there were no mad dashes of the concierge vacating the royal abode.
She stayed put.
While staying put she feverishly wrote out some lists.
There was a lot of ink on that paper.
(Yes, she still uses paper for her lists.... don't think less of her for it....)
Initially, she puttered from here to there without much direction.
But then, despite the fabulous weather, she hunkered down to tackle a lot of piled up loose ends.
So, there is something that, to me, is not a big deal.
Just make sure I have my cozy beds, yummy treats and on-time breakfast and dinner and I am good.
Humans seem to need so much more...
So, hour after hour there was shredding, shuffling and dumping....
So, again, I thought the coast was clear....
Not so....
It happened late afternoon, after the sun went behind the clouds and it started getting a bit chilly.
I was kidnapped first and had to endure the torture before anyone else.
Typical.
So now I smell like oranges.
Unlike Harry, I don't like oranges.
I don't want to smell like oranges.
I want to smell like I did before I smelled like oranges.
And Bertie and Tessa smell like green tea and ginger and some other smells...
Raph smells like that and like pear (the  shampoo bottle ran out before he did...!)...
And... our leashes, collars and harnesses were bathed!!1
Where will it end?
After our baths we ate, then we went to the forest for a nice long walk.  We took an unexpected detour that was loaded with turkey scent in order to avoid some human walkers that I didn't know about until afterwards. The good smelling walk made the baths a little less traumatic.  I will add an additional comment on the baths... I will admit that the new gizmo makes the experience so much less stressful.  Warm water and less time being sudsed up make for a better experience....!
So, when the unthinkable sneaks up and clocks you over the head, may your helmet be secure and manage the blow.

Dealing with unsavories....

Hi G-Fans!
Well, ANOTHER GLORIOUS DAY!!
How many is that in a row?
The concierge did her usual Sunday morning routine.  When she returned she stuffed her face and then blew out of here with the helper.
WITHOUT US!
Apparently she went to the Forest!
WITHOUT US!
AND ON A BICYCLE!!!!?
Insults on top of injuries!!
This information and knowledge is only manageable in light of our evening walk in the forest.
It was comfortable, brisk and decently long.
There were no unsavory unpleasantness.
The unsavory unpleasantness was saved for our return home.
Since we arrived home the booming has become more frequent and louder.
Tessa is not pleased, nor am I, I don't think the boys are very happy either.
Those humans and there penchant for noisy holiday fireworks.
Annoying.
I better not lose any beauty sleep over it!
So, may you find life's irritations manageable and short-lived.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend....

Hi G-Fans!
Well, another spectacular day with sun, temperate climates and comfortable breezes.
Perfect for anything.
We had all sorts of things going on, but luckily no baths or cleaning!  Plans for abandonment were already in place, so we were left to fend for ourselves for the afternoon.  Even though they came back smelling of smoky meats, sweet treats and salty snacks, I will say, dinner was on time and we got close to a full bog walk.... so I guess, since we napped during the abandonment, I will let it slide.....
We did, however, have some issues on our walk....
We had to traipse through gauntlets of bicycles, skateboarders, big wheelers, walking person, slow walking fisherman/standing fisherman, an unattended, loose, white dog and smells of turkeys and deer.
Needless to say the concierge had to have some serious, "You embarrass me" talks with us for being so reactionary and vocal and fairly rabid.   The talks are so ennui, at least for me.... If we need to have a comment or other reaction to stimuli around us, we have good reason to do so.  She needs to get over herself and get on board.  After all, we are trying to help her out!  She is sooooo confused!
So, may you not be defined by others' limited imagination.

Dear Oh Deer

Chester and Monroe snuggling....
Hi G-Fans!
Well, ANOTHER fabulous day!!
I could get used to this.
Clear, crisp, sunny and brisk.
Perfect weather for anything.
We did another bog walk even though the concierge wasn't terribly early, even though she promised later in the day that she would be home earlier.... She got stuck avoiding holiday weekend traffic by taking a circuitous route home.  It doubled her commute time.  But, now we have several days stretched in front of us.... The helper is looking to maximize his fun.  His idea of fun is kind of weird.  He wants to do a cookout, bike ride and some other activity.
Now, the cookout, minus the people, would not be too weird... I mean, it ends in food.  How weird can that be?
But, a bike ride?
That would give Raphael a meltdown.  He flips when bicycles ride by (like today).
He also is vocal when bunnies scamper by and deer disappear.
Speaking of which, we saw deer tonight on our walk.
We think we saw the same one twice.
We have been on the lookout right along for deer, fox and Lady Slippers......
Tonight it was the deer.....
The concierge tsk tsk tsk'd Raphael for being a noisy hunting dog when he got an eyeful of the deer scampering away for the second time.
The rest of us were quiet church mice and sniffed like mad....
On another note....
Today was Harry's boy concierge's birthday.
The Helper has a big one in a few days and Gabriella's boy concierge also has a birthday in a few days as well.  The same day in fact.... Different Mommas and Papas though.
We plan to make the entire weekend fun.
I had best be included in the festivities or there will be payments in cans and sponges made if I am excluded from anything!
So, may you celebrate all life's joys in style and to your liking and only be excluded from the clean-up....
