This week another black bear made the news. This one was about 300 pounds... That is probably how much we all weigh in together. Maybe including Snagglepus! Look at the article the concierge has dug up for you to peruse.

I don't think a 300-pound Black Bear warrants that much excitement. Really. It isn't like it is a bison buffalo or a hippopotamus. Or a Gray Whale. And yet, out of all the bears, including grizzlies, they have been more harmful, injurious, and deadly to humans. The concierge has included an article link that addresses why there are more Black Bear attacks.

While we were looking up the information we found a list of fatal attacks of Black Bears, Grizzly Bears and Polar Bears. We discovered that bears who fatally attack are generally hunted down and killed. They usually get shot first and tested to see if they are the perpetrators second. Somehow that seems a little unfair. A particularly disturbing incident involved a polar bear who was shot by police. A knucklehead teen climbed into the pen at a zoo and was fatally mauled. So the bera was shot. What? The kid is already dead. Shooting the bear doesn't change that. Somehow, that seems wrong to me. I don't wish ill on anyone, but the bear was already incarcerated and the kid had no business in the enclosure. The bear is just being a bear. I don't quite see the justice in killing the polar bear. Do people think that they anthropomorphize after being in captivity for awhile? Or?
How would you react if confined and out of your element for many years?
I don't think I would be much different..
