Walk canceling, a new way of living.....

Hi G-Fans!
Well, the concierge did it again!
She canceled the walks!
And she didn't even have the decency to be nearby when she called it...
She got home the latest ever, it is ridiculous!
She had to drop things off at work before going home and that always takes extra time, and she took the wrong exit to go to the office, she took the coming home exit after her last visit tonight.
So, she is tired and not very fun to be around.
We got our cookies tout de suite and Snagglepus got a bedtime snack too, then the concierge had her dinner.  If you ask me it smelled like breakfast.  Anyway....
This 5 degree weather is just not working out for me....
I like my walks and am miserable when I miss them.
I hope the concierge is paying attention.
She said she put the electric blanket on just for me tonight.
Maybe I will let her snuggle up to me tonight.... After all, it is at least a five dog night!!  And she is letting all five dogs on the bed to sleep for the night.....
Just sayin'....
Well, time to turn in, the concierge said something about conferencing for work so I want have a good night's sleep so I am ready for anything.
May you get the rest you need regularly so you are fresh as a daisy and not pushing them up in a permanent way!!

14 degrees with stripes....

Hi G-Fans!
It is 14 degrees out so the concierge canceled our walk for tonight.  Even though it was snowing this morning, snowing significantly I might add, the sun came out mid-morning and it was cold, but manageable.  Since the concierge spent the morning with us I am wondering intently why she didn't give us a walk when she was home earlier, in the daylight and at higher temps??
People...!
Next I question the stripe kick the concierge is on....striped socks, striped undies, striped pjs, where is this going to stop?  And when?  And it seems, in addition, for all but the socks today, the stripes have been variations of pinks to reds... what does this all mean?  And then add to that pink slippers and a pinkish bathrobe, Oiy!
So, you might imagine the fashion horror I am forced to be helpless over and how distressing that might be without the outlet of a walk.  Mightn't you?
So, may you exercise good fashion sense when combining colors, decorations and styles each day when you step forth from your private enclave into the public domain!

P.S. -  There seems to be some kind of glitch going on while I have struggled to post this blog.
I have done it several times and thought it was all set only to check and see that photos were missing that I thought were already posted.... so, not sure what went out and what didn't, I can write that this has been an annoying experience and I am not pleased with the process... grrrrrrrrr...

It seems the stripe fetish began earlier than I thought.....
Bertie has the right idea....
I don't care what rakish angle you put this hat, the stripes just don't work!
Tessa is enduring the embarrassment.....

Raphael hopes the torture of the striped hat is almost over....

This is a much more refined and sophisticated look....
This is not even from today and the socks are different, so you can see there is a definite issue we are seeing with the stripes..... Just Sayin'!

January 28, 2014/January 29, 2014

Hi G-Fans!
Well, it was a fairly cold one today, but the sun was out so it seemed less cold than it was...
>>>><<<<<
Well, the above was as far as we got last night.... I couldn't get anywhere with the comatose concierge....
Soooooo....
To get back to it:
Yesterday is not today.
Today we have snow and the temperature does not feel as cold as yesterday.
Last night our walk was the usual night time deal with no major catastrophes or issues.
It was adequate.
The concierge spent awhile with us at lunch time, but was doing the "phone thing" so pretty much was not very fun or engaged.  But, we did get our cookies and we went out twice.  I guess even a princess has to take what she can get in the lean times.... Still...... Not liking it....
I will have to start researching ways of re-focusing the concierge.... I think I have been more than patient for this to pan out, it is time for me to take action.  A comatose concierge is no good to me, and how can I reach my minions if she is unavailable to get the word out?
So, may you stay the course as it is set forth and maintain composure even in the face of extreme adversity.
Have a blessed day!

Maybe Riley is too short to look out the window or too old to really care...?

Riley amidst a swirl of bodies....

I laugh in your general direction!  RIley too!  Everyone else is oblivious!

let's be brief

Hi G-Fans!
The concierge is conscious for only a few minutes so I have to be brief.,,,
1)  It was balmy today and then the temperature dropped just in time for our walk, oh yay!
2)  Our walk was uneventful, but seemed to make us all really relaxed and mellow after.
3) There was ground turkey that was made into "meatloaf" - did I see any for MY mouth???
4) I am losing the concierge so I should close....
5)  May you compensate quickly for any shortfalls supplied by life, and may you always see the positive not the negative...

It is about time!

Hi G-Fans!
Well, today could have been warmer, but, it could have been colder too.  It wasn't thirty to fortyish like yesterday, but it wasn't single digits either.  It hovered in the twenty-somethings.
So, after cookies and lunch, we were bundled up into two vehicles and traipsed off to the forest.  Parking proved challenging and we spent an inordinate amount of time looking for a trail that we could safely park near.
We finally found one and it was a pristine un-maimed trail for the first half of our walk, so smells weren't over the top until the second half.  There was a lone set of prints set by either a Canid or Cervidae, not sure which because they were either from early yesterday or the day before because they had some melt and then iced up last night.
Anyhoo,
We had a challenging walk with snowdrifts and crusty snowmobile trails.
The concierge is helping to write this to the sound of snoring and heavy breathing.  We haven't had last outs or cookies yet, I think we will all rise to the occasion as soon as the cue of the shutting computer is heard.... It works every time.
Harry now is living with his bunny indoors.  His bunny used to live outside, but it has been too cold and she is getting too old.
According to Harry's concierge, he has taught the bunny his special trick of smooshing his lips and nose through the wire when placed "behind bars"... I have included a picture for your review....
So, may you enjoy toasty warm chocolate and cookies after being outside in the cold!

For Crying Out Loud.... WHAT was she thinking?

Hi G-Fans!
Ok, so the outdoor temperature has vastly improved and it is way less cold.  But there are a few things I just have to get off my list of gripes.  First of all the plan was for an early walk.  It didn't happen.  Some sort of lame excuse that Harry's concierge had to take his bunny to the vet and the concierge's helper friend wasn't available either.  So it was then pushed to after lunch, early...  In my limited educational sphere, 4:00 does not constitute as early unless it is in the A.M....  4:00 P.M.  signifies the beginning of the last third of the day.  So, two thirds of the day has past when it turns 4:00.  Two thirds is more than half.  There is no way it can be made to seem that 4:00 p.m. is early.... no way.
And, we did not go to the forest as originally planned.  We went to the bog.  Which is good and all, but it isn't the forest.  So, I am more than miffed.  Wait 'til you find out why it happened at 4:00 and not 1 or 1:30.
Are you ready for this?  She went out, on a whim, for lunch.  And not just lunch, but at a swanky place.  And she didn't have a sandwich and get home, she had a 'dining experience'.
The nerve.
If there is a dining experience going on, I should expect I should be involved.
How could this happen?
She took pictures just to rub my nose into it ....  It is ridiculous.
I am at a loss how to make a lasting correction in the concierge's decision/judgment making process....
I have eaten three pieces of chocolate cake just to get a point across.... now what can I do to make my point????
A conundrum.
Well, I hope you roll with the conundrums of life and make sure you share your treats!

The crab cakes up close.....

Insalata Patrizias and crab cakes.  Harry's concierge said that they were the best crab cakes ever.....!  I like crab cakes,,,,,!?!
The salad from another view.....

Tuna tartar - like nothing I have ever seen!!  The concierge won't shut up about it!  I like tuna...... :(

And she knows how I feel about chocolate cake!!!  Especially flourless chocolate cake!  My FAVORITE!

I wonder if they have delivery......?

Tattling by any other name

Hi G-Fans!
Well, it is another dry ice burner today.
The concierge again refused to walk us.  I think the MSPCA will have to be involved.  I NEED A WALK!!  I will say, RIley came up the stairs limping after being out for only a few minutes.... It is truly cold....!
So, in lieu of good solid exercise, we have found other ways to amuse ourselves.
I will grant you that it isn't the most creative, as it is things we have been known to do in the past, but it is entertaining and we all seem to enjoy it as an activity.
The most recent episode we not only did it once while the concierge was only feet away, but we waited for her to pick it all up and only seconds elapsed before we did it again.  The most exciting part of the exercise is that we do it with the possibility of being caught directly in the act.  And yet, the concierge really can't pinpoint who has done what, because we are so stealthy.  It is quite a past time to be sure.
Unfortunately, the concierge only takes so much in good humor and she sours it all.  She threw away the most recent object of our attentions.  Quite disappointing I must say.
So, be it cold or not, we still find things to keep us busy.
How about you?
May you keep warm when the wind whips through your hair and keep your nose clean even when you are eating hot food.

The concierge thought that including before and after pictures might be entertaining.
Can you tell which ones are before and which ones are after?
If you guess the ones with the most debris strewn about as the "before" ones you would be wrong!  We did a more thorough job on the second round of the game, after the concierge had cleaned up the first time and we were sent outside for a few minutes.  The second round we were way more focused.
I will share that not all of us participate equally.
But, I am not one to tattle one way or the other.
I say, "all for one and one for all"
(when it protects my personal royal hiney, that is....)!
I will add that the pictures do not do justice to the amount of fluff we disemboweled from the offending pillow.....
it looks way less wicked than what we had created......
Just sayin'...

Cold, cold, COLD!

Hi G-Fans!
Well, last look it was twelve degrees out according to the concierge, and she said it will be remembered as a heat wave compared to tomorrow.  This weather is cramping my style!
The concierge deemed another night as "too cold" to take a walk.  Not that I disagree.... it IS cold out.  But too cold for a walk?  Is that possible?  I guess I do put my paw up and hop on three legs when I am out in this cold for any length of time....  but still.....
I know there was another beef I had to gripe about, but I am so sleepy from lounging by the woodstove I can't remember what it was I wanted to gripe about....
So, with that I guess I will close...
(and I will let you know that my routine was relatively undisturbed today)....
May you keep your toes warm and your nose damp and remember to keep it in your own business!!

Snow, snow, snow......

Hi G-Fans!
Yes, there has been snow.  In fact, there has been more snow on our street than on streets west and east of us.... by a block!!  Our street is in a weather pattern all of its own!  Snow, snow, snow!
It is light and dusty - but really, really, really C-O-L-D!!!  So cold we weren't allowed to walk.  REALLY COLD!
We also had other things that didn't go on, it took the slow witted concierge a few hours to figure it out.....
We almost went to bed without our supper!!
Tell me THAT is ok!?!?!
I guess when you are busy with other things the royal bodies are just overlooked.....
At least she realized we hadn't been fed BEFORE we went to bed.  But honestly, insult to injury.... no walk, no food, what could possibly be next??
Don't even answer that.
We missed cookies, but got most of our dinner.
Better than it could have been.
But still not ACCEPTABLE!
I will have to decide who I report this to....
At any rate...
May you advocate effectively for yourself when the bumps in life need a little straightening.....

Pictures of us so you can see how close we were to starvation......
Me trying to call for help...  see my ribs sticking out?

Raphael looking for help and a way out....

Riley after shredding a toy from frustration.....  and looking for more.....

Snagglepus, Tessa and Bertie hanging in there, but only just.....

It's here....!

Hi G-Fans!
The storm is a ragin' outside and has been since this afternoon.  It started when the concierge came home at lunch to let us out, give us cookies and to check on the birds.
I am not sure if we will get the predicted foot or not.  I can tell you that, so far, the snow is very, very light and "dusty" so we can kick it with our paws.  I notice that shoveling is easier when it is like that....
We even had a small neighborhood walk after the concierge came home on the treacherous roadways.  The walk was nearly as treacherous for her as the pavement was slick with packed snow and some ice.  There were several near misses, oh, wait a minute, she did fall... I forgot.  It was sort of graceful.... sort of not.
Anyway,
We all got back in one piece and glad to get warm.  Everyone's feet were cold, including the concierge's.
Well, since we passed out in front of the woodstove, I am ready to hight tail it to the royal chamber for the remainder of our sleeping engagement.  So I will bid you adieu and safe travels...
May you be prepared for all contingencies without dwelling on the possibilities....

The Storm is coming, the storm is coming......

Hi G-Fans!
Well, I keep hearing the 'storm' word.  There seems to be some excitement when it is said.  I am not sure what to expect, but there is something that is suppose to happen tomorrow.  So, in the event of last year's situation, don't be alarmed if I am temporarily thwarted in posting my thoughts.  I will prevail at some juncture :)
Today....
Nothing over the top to report.
Although some say it is a holiday, the concierge did regular hours away from home and she smelled like a regular Monday to me when she came home.
We did a walk after our  dinner and before the concierge's dinner, which I don't think was a good idea, I think the concierge got a little snappish because of it.... just sayin'
The walk was low key and uneventful.  The concierge found it acceptable, I found it rather dull.  Although, I will say that there were some pretty good sniffing opportunities....
I have agreed to include pictures of me being snuggly with my bud Riley.
So, may you share freely the love you have with those around you (unless, of course, you have an active restraining order against you....)!
Also, may you weather the impending weather without issue....

Fat Cat and a Sock Monkey Teddy!

Hi G-Fans!
Well, the weekend has come to a close again.  They are right when they say the days go by faster as we get older.  I think for dogs because we get so good at relaxing as we mature, we sleep a good portion of the day.  For humans, I think they just try to cram way too many things into their day and they realize there is only a finite amount ultimately available to them to accomplish their goals.  Just sayin'.....
Anyway,
The pictures, after much assistance and further grunting and groaning were managed to get transferred so I can use them in the blog.  Tonight I chose to share the ones of Snagglepus sharing the space with the Teddy dressed as a sock monkey amongst boxes, bags, papers and debris... the space is frequently utilized as a holding spot.... but that is another story....
Anyway,
Snagglepus is our featured creature and I am noticing in the last few weeks increased girth.  He is turning into a food hound and is starting to pack the pounds on... the concierge is keenly aware and is trying to find a balance for him to have treats and good food and still lose weight.... not working yet, but I am sure she will keep trying.....
Hopefully it works before he gets like the Kliban cats.... those cats are FAT!!!!
So, today....
We had sunshine and piled into the old car with Raphael hitching a ride with Harry.  We went to the forest in a section that was a little familiar, but it has been awhile and we probably only went once....  so it was more than a little thrilling to go.  The smells are always fabulous.  I guess it makes up for yesterday's cleaning....  But still.....
I was quite relaxed and expected the concierge to throw her jammies on but instead threw her coat on after throwing food at us and wolfing down something herself.... she talks about us not tasting our food - she should look in the mirror once in awhile!!  And then - poof! - she was gone for several hours without warning.
I gave her a thorough going over when she returned, not sure exactly where she went, the smells were inconclusive.
Anyway, she needs to get to bed, even though other people have tomorrow off, she doesn't.  She really needs to advocate for more time to take us on awesome walks.... we aren't going to be around forever you know.....
So, may you cherish the moments in your life without hesitation or remorse....

The replacement slippers....

Snagglepus amongst the debris checking out the teddy bear dressed as a sock monkey.....

Snagglepus settling in on the notebook computer's new carrying case and apparently not minding the watchful glare of the sock monkey costumed teddy...

Bathing seems to be the thing that is required in this box strewn environment, oh, did I mention that is stuff that was thrown on top of a dog crate?  (Usually it is  a holding cell for bad boys - bad boys because the girls have never had to be placed in it for being naughty....  we all use it, however, for chill time....)

More bathing...

Something has interrupted the bathing....

Back to bathing.....

Thorough bathing....

A few final spots requiring attention...

And finally he can relax..... along with the  reclining teddy - aka sock monkey....
