Sometimes I think too much....

Hi G-Fans!
I know I am a dog, and dogs are suppose to lay around and be goofy and get belly rubs, but that isn't entirely me.  I think.  Sometimes I think too much.  I think about the royal chambers.  I think about the royal feasts.  I think about the royal children.  I think about the royal schedule.  I think about walks in the woods.  I think about walking the bogs.  I think about the concierge.  But I think all these things on the inside.  On the outside I act like I am a goofy high-strung dog.  I think the concierge is onto me though.  I guess it doesn't help that I write the blog.  Kind of a give away that I like to write and think.  I also like to roll around on the ground when we go on walks.  Sometimes it is in nasty things that have no business having me roll in it (Actually, I like the stinky smelling globs that imbed themselves in goo-like masses in my fur, it is the concierge who gets grossed out by all this stuff.)     And at the same time she doesn't.    It never seems to be simple...
I guess that is life.
So, may you roll with the bumps in life...  they make life interesting!

Hi G-Fans!
I thought I already posted about the moon and my feather, but upon review of the entries, I did not.
Huh.
Well, according to the concierge the moon was a special moon last week.
It is called the Strawberry Moon.  It was closer to the earth than it has been in years.  And it was full.  We tried to catch it rising, but it wasn't happening.  We did get a little glimpse of pieces of it through the trees one night, I think it was a day before it being full.  I can't remember now.
I have included a picture that Harry's concierge took of it with her phone.  It is a little grainy, but you get somewhat of an idea.
The other picture is of me down at the bog entrance.  I had been carrying that feather for almost the whole walk.  Finally the concierge talked someone into using their camera and got a shot of me right before I dropped the feather.  Although I know why I did it, and I know what kind of bird the feather came from, the concierge and her compadres do not.  That's the way, unh huh unh huh, I like it.
Let them wonder.
Like I indicated a few days ago, mystery and intrigue are good things.
May you experience them regularly and with joie de vivre :)
Bon Vivant!

Riley in Sepia

Hi G-Fans!
Another whirl wind work week for the concierge at a close.  I have insisted that pedicures are slated for this weekend.  The concierge assures me that pedicures for us and facials for Stufflebeam are on the punch list.  Along with a slew of other stuff.
I just want to know what is so all-important that get the concierge home at all hours these days?
Last week it was the wee hours of Saturday morning she crept into the house.  Shamelessly I might add.
The last two night she has come home well over 8:30 p.m. and tonight it probably wast 9:30 by the time she arrived home.  Unacceptable schedule for the royal staff.  Changes need to be made.  This is affecting my well being.
I need my needs met with much greater reliability and frequency.
And don't get me started on attitudes.
I have one I am working on and I am almost ready to share it with the concierge.
Finis,  Complet.  And so on....
So, I look forward to a wet walk in the woods tomorrow.
I know I will not be put off again.
Rain or not.
I am going.
So may you get your groove on whenever possible :)

Delinquency, no excuse!

Nice color contrast!
Hi G-Fans!
It is Thursday night and I am looking high and low for something that has been lost by the concierge.  I looked in the closet, I looked in the cabinet, I looked in her eyes.  NOTHING.  The royal hiney can not find her walk anywhere.  NADA.  Zippo.  The concierge is dangerously close to being put in with the commoners.  I can't tolerate this sort of inconsistency and neglect.  Royal butts are meant to be catered to, not stuck curbside.  This is ridiculous.  A crappy interrupted walk last night and absolutely nothing tonight,  This just can't be happening.  Delinquency has no room in the royal grounds or in the proximity of the royal self.  At least it isn't a stellar night for  a walk... it is drippy and humid.  At least it isn't hot in the least little bit,  That makes it less horrible.
Well G-Fans, I could go on and on, but to what end?
I think we have to encourage one another on days like today!
So may the drips in life be ones of joy and not torture.

Life's little mysteries....

Hi G-Fans!
2:00 p.m.:  The concierge left the a/c off last night, which I suppose was fine, and then didn't turn it on this morning, but I had to put my pout on at lunch.  Not that it was extremely hot, but Riley and I, in particular, don't appreciate that muggy, stuffy heat.  So we poured the panting pout on heavy so she would get the picture and not think one of us was sick.  It had to be a joint effort to get the desired result.  So now, as we wait for thunder storms to arrive, we are much more comfortable.  I have to say, I would recommend that the concierge give us all something so we can sleep through these storms, we are all getting wiggy about thunder storms these days, although not as much for me..... but still....

10:30 p.m.:  The storms haven't arrived, other than some short bursts of rain, and it is now bedtime.  So, we have dodged that choke chain for now.  It is still muggy so the concierge has obliged us and left the a/c on so we can relax.  The noise helps drown out other stuff too, so we aren't as likely to over react to things. (!)
Our walk was late because the concierge was crazy late.  Then the walk was cut short.  This happened for two reasons.  One:  because Harry's concierge injured herself when we were crossing the road.  It wasn't her ankle this time, but a little further up.  She had to limp home.  So, in solidarity, we all escorted her home.  Raphael and I kept a close watch to make sure she was progressing adequately and no further injuries were incurred.
Two:  The concierge was getting a foreboding feeling.  She thought turning around was a good choice.  We were mostly good with that given the circumstances.  Stuff happens.
So, that is it for now.  The concierge was stressed out about a squirrel, but she doesn't want me to write about it.  Also, the  nest under the deck is completely empty.  What happened?  We aren't sure.  Marauders?  Perhaps.  Unless one of us speaks the language of mother birds, we might never know how that nest came to be empty in the last few days....
So, may you be at peace with the mysteries of life that we are confronted with on a daily basis.

Two Princesses Cavorting

Hi G-Fans!
Well, it was another humid and hot day, not as bad as yesterday, but bad enough.
Lucky for us the concierge worries about us and leaves the air conditioners and fans on for us all day.
Although we were comfortable we could still get a taste of the muggies.
It cooled off drastically after 4:00.  So, when the concierge returned home we dashed out of the house to get our walk in before it was pitch black out.  We didn't do a full bog walk, but we did a partial.
On our way down the incline, before we hit the dirt road, the concierge noticed a free loader on my beard.  I knew she was there (I was discreetly speaking with her in her own language), but I was trying to keep it on the down-low.  Anyway, it hitched a ride all the way down the hill and around the first bog almost to the mouth of the dirt road going back.  That was just when the concierge asked someone with their phone to video my friend and myself.  Which is precisely when my friend left.  So I have no proof that Tinker Bell the Faerie Princess visited with me, blinking her lights on and off the whole way.  The human companions to the concierge thought it was a common firefly.  I asked the concierge to set them straight, but I don't know how effective it was.
So the famous Tinker Bell and I kibitzed.
Sorry you missed it.
May you have magic unexpectedly in the most wonderful of places.

Grease Lightning

Hi G-Fans!
There is some major lightning going on tonight.  No one gave me the heads up, but it is a light show without rain.
Pretty exciting since we did a shortish walk in it tonight.
It was so hot today that the concierge would not have walked us in the daylight even if she had been home.
Luckily she had help in preparing for today since she had intel that it would be hot so she hooked us up with the refrigerator machine so we could be cool - nice :)
Last night we had the bog walk and I found a treasure and carried it home.  The concierge wanted a picture so I obliged.  She asked what was so amazing about the feather that I carried all the way home.... I didn't tell.  Let her wonder.
And before I picked the feather up we ran into a turtle.  We startled a turtle.  (That was funnier in my head than written out.  Oh well.)  We also saw the Lady Slipper that we have been watching since it unfolded earlier in the month.  It still looks good, so the concierge and i think.  Raphael, however, tried to stomp it into the ground.  The concierge can be pretty quick  in reacting to things like that and thereby avoiding potential jail time by protecting the Lady Slipper.
Now tonight we had other excitement.
It was dark.
The sky was non-stop light show.
For those of you paying attention that means Raphael was jazzed as he loves a good light show.
Before anyone can say Jack Spratt Raphael scooped a toad into his mouth (like greased lightning) who had been minding his own business in the sand and eating bugs.  Usually the toads are scooped and released.  Kind of like how some people fish.  Catch and release.  Well, there was a release.  But it was not a successful release.  We had to have a little ceremony for the little toad who was no more.  One less bug catcher in the world.  The concierge is very disturbed by this turn of events.
And, she worried if Raphael could be turning into a toadaholic.
That is a thing you know.
Well, it is actually called toad sucking, not toadaholic, but you get my point loud and clear don't you?  We are talking about the possible necessity for an intervention.  I will keep you posted on that deal.
The concierge does not want any further fatalities.
So, that is it for tonight.
May you suck on tasty hard candy and not on things like toads.

The Lady Slipper we have been watching for a  few weeks...
The unidentified turtle that we left in a living state last night.

My feather.

The Snags

Cage surfing - his newest hobby.
Hi G-Fans!
There were some technical difficulties tonight as the Snagglepus pictures disappeared.  We got them back, but who can figure what that is all about.  So, it was definitely a summer day.  Very warm, the concierge waited to take us on the walk until 8 pm because she didn't want us overheating.  She took some pictures that didn't come through yet, so we will have to use Snagglepus pictures from the other day.  Maybe I can share tonight's picture with you tomorrow.
So, we had a very-close-to-full bog walk.  The concierge has a very long and late day, her supper was way past mine.   I think she was cranky from being sweaty and hungry.
Tonight on our walk we passed a turtle and a scary noise.  We can only conjecture as to its identity.... The noise was loud and came from the bushes.  Lions and tigers and bears.... OH MY!
So, it will be brief tonight so I can share more about tonight's walk with supportive pictures.
I will say that I enjoyed some raw bones this morning and this evening along with Raphael, no one else was interested.  We didn't care that they were frozen and had been for around 4 years (maybe longer!).
The concierge gave them to us while she did some cleaning.  She didn't do too badly..... I can still smell our scent layering  so I am not overly peeved with her at the moment.
Well, I am going to retire, the concierge has banged her head on the wall twice already because she fell asleep in the middle of me dictating.  So, I will let her off the hook, AGAIN!
May you stay cool in the heat and warm in the cool,
TTFN!

Unbeeleevabull!!

Hi G-Fans!
No need to panic.  We are all fine.
This is the first missed transmission that was not due to technical issues.
The concierge left the house yesterday at 8:00 am and we never saw her again until 2:30 am!
Unbeeleevabull!!
So, of course, there was no one to type my blog and I still can't work the keyboard.
And I would like to know how can she trust that her minions are properly caring for us!?
(They did)
And how can she ditch our walk on such a glorious (again!) day?
All week we heard how she was going to get out early Friday and we were going on a walk mid-afternoon!
We got NOTHING!!
She had some lame story about a hospital (I used to work in a hospital when I was a registered therapy dog, so I know what one of those are.... and, although I hate to admit it, she did smell like one).  She said she left right from work and got our babysitter (who has been MIA in, like, forever) and took him to the hospital.
I can tell it wasn't a great experience for her because even though she ditched us all day we greeted her like a heralded member of the clan.  We held nothing back and made sure she knew we noticed she hadn't been home, in a good way.  Instead of being happy and relieved to see all of us, she hissed at us like a miserable cat and told us we were being too loud and that I was being a ring leader and to knock it off.
I was nothing, if not offended!
Hrmph.
So, I begrudgingly traipsed upstairs at 3:00 am (Riley was already up there and sprawled across the bedspread like he owned the inner chambers) with the concierge.  And then shortly thereafter I was rudely dragged down at 6:00 am for potty and breakfast.  Hardly seemed worth it.
And the concierge seemed pretty grouchy on three hours of sleep so I told her that it would be a good idea to lay on the couch and catch a little more shut-eye.  She agreed and so I stayed on the couch to supervise while she grabbed another hour of rest before she jumped into the remaining part of her day.  She was a little less grumpy so it was a good idea (thanks to me, again!) even for an hour.  When she returned from her errands (I smelled small people and people I haven't met and my grandparents and the babysitter and shrimp on her) she took Raphael and I on a full bog walk with Harry and his concierge.
Then, after dinner she took us and the other three on ANOTHER bog walk!!
Raphael is passed out in the center of the family room.
He didn't even do his usual positioning while the concierge ate her dinner.
The concierge actually had to check that we were all in and alive because it was so quiet, even though someone has been firing off fireworks.
Unbeeleevabull!!
So, may you have a better hospital experience, if you need it, than the concierge and babysitter!
Be well!

We are keeping an eye on the Lady

Hi G-Fans!
We are keeping an eye on the last Lady Slipper that we watched unfold on our walks past it.
So we feel pretty connected to the the process and the concierge is impressed that it is looking so perky and pink so late into the month.
We had another, yes another, gorgeous day.  Perfect temperature, sun, and sunset.  We had a full bog walk and, I might add, it started LATE and we didn't get home until LATE and we were using moonlight to get us home.  One of the BAD DOGS watched us walk past both coming and going.  It was by itself though.  No way to know if the other one is under house arrest like Stufflebeam, or some nefarious action occurred rendering him a non-event.  We may never know, but I will keep you posted if I find anything out.
The concierge is feeling the effect of all the hours with little shut-eye, so she is periodically dozing off while she types for me.  So, being the loyal companion that I am, I am letting her off the hook and signing off for tonight.  Enjoy the pictures I have included.  Bertie is excluded...  He has been acting wicked with everyone.... his anxiety seems to be increasing.  So I plan on talking to him about relaxing and giving him a slap like he does to me and Tessa when one of us walks with him.  He is so fresh.
Anyway,
I will close for now...

OOOh AAAAAh

Hi G-Fans!
Well, I know I seem to harp about the weather a lot lately, but how can I help it?
Today was a day that the concierge needed to put into a bottle.  So perfect.  So awesome.  It was fabulous to be inside or outside.  It was just a stellar sort of day.
We had a full bog walk.  No excitement worth mentioning.  Aside from seeing some geese families on the pond, there wasn't much of anything going on.  The sunset, however, gained ooohs and aaaahs from the concierge and company because there were such pretty colors and cloud formations.
Riley came with us for tonight's walk and was doing great as of this morning.  That peanut butter ball that the concierge makes for Riley seems to really work.  He was hop skip and jumping this morning up the deck stairs.  He was acting like a puppy:)
The momma bird under the deck is still in the nest so the concierge says that she must have her chicks.  The concierge hopes our loud attention doesn't have an adverse affect on the brood....
So, I hope your eggs crack only in the best of ways and at the best of times.

Fireflies.... shhhhh!

Hi G-Fans!
Another day of sun, clouds, pretty sunset and then drizzle and then more rain.
We still got our walks though.  We didn't get a bog but we got a school and fire access walk.  So, not as much as a full bog, but more than a plain school.  Not miserable, not ecstatic.
Did you know the fireflies have been out for a few days now.
Can you imagine how bonkers Raphael would be if he stopped long enough on our walks to actually see one.  We would never get anywhere if he and Tessa knew about fireflies (shhh.... it is our secret).
Oh, and another thing, Riley is acting funny.  The concierge gave him a pill to help him, but she isn't convinced it will do the trick.  He opted out of the walk tonight, unheard of except when he has a pinched nerve or strained muscle which happens from time to time.  We are all hoping that is all that it is, because he looked a little out of sorts when we got back and I think he thought we would be taking him for a second walk.
He is in the royal chambers with us tonight as usual, he is taking up most of the bed by stretching completely out.  The concierge actually slid his whole body over so she and I (and Snagglepus) could fit on the bed.  So, he must be feeling a little better.
I have added some pictures from the last couple of days.  I hope you enjoy them!
May the rain in your life nourish you and sustain you!

A flick of the tail....

Hi G-Fans!
I know I am focused on the weather lately, but it really has been something of note.  Today was quite warm and sunny until early evening and then a black cloud rolled in and opened up with thunder and lightning.  Tessa and Riley were sooooooo happy....  NOT!
Luckily it didn't last long and the concierge took us on "the short walk" in the dark, but the moon was quite bright and the sky was twinkling with stars by the time she ate and then brought us...
Harry's concierge hung out with us most of the day, so we had a relaxed day overall, despite the humidity and warmth.
As far as we know the baby birds are still ok as Momma bird was giving the "stare down" to the concierge at 5:30 this morning.  The concierge also saw a bird fly out of one of the bird houses that has been dormant for years as it is too low to really be safe from our noses and paws.  But the concierge says, "so far, so good".  I am confused.  Shouldn't she be encouraging us to go after all these birds.... since we ARE, after all, Bird Dogs.....?!?
I don't get it.
So, I am posting some photos for your perusal.
Enjoy!
May the moments of unexpected joy fly up at you with clarity and certainty :)

A flick of the tail.... and gone.....

Shouldn't it be all about me?

The  sunset was soooo pretty tonight!

Hi G-fans!
Well, it is Sunday and we are winding down for the weekend and gearing up for the week.  Well, the humans are anyway.  We'll see how the week affects us and I will let you know.
Pictures have been exchanged from yesterday's abandonment, I am not impressed, but I guess the concierge is pleased, she seems to like them.
I am also unimpressed by a conversation the concierge had with me earlier today.
She wanted to know why I rarely share stories about Riley, Tessa, Raphael or Bertie.  First of all, a royal really doesn't need to explain oneself to others.  Second of all, if she were paying attention she would see that I do include everyone from time to time.  AND this is MY blog and I can write whatever I am interested in writing... so there.
Hrrmph.
At least that was what I thought!
Well, we have  busy week ahead so I will sigh off for now.
