Hello Fans of Grace.
Our stalwart hero continues to struggle.
We now have a name for what she has.
Acute Fulminating Myasthenia Gravis.
This morning a vet at the emergency clinic tentatively suggested that this was what we were dealing with....
There was some indecision as to the action to be taken...
Then I decided that she needed to go to the city so she could be in a position to have all the needed doctors and testing available to her in one place. So, I drove her to make a 1:00 appointment, which we made with ten minutes to spare.
Within a half hour the neurologist was certain her tentative diagnosis was accurate. He was surprised we didn't use the ER to get her in... again, another story.
But, since her admission, she has had more testing, undergone anesthesia to get a CT scan and needle biopsy for the two tumors that were identified. She is now undergoing a medication regimen to address her condition.
Her prognosis at this time is guarded.
We need lots and lots more PRAYERS!
Acute Fulminating Myasthenia Gravis is an autoimmune condition and because hers came on so suddenly and severely the doctor is uncertain how effective the treatment is going to be.
At this time surgery is ruled out.
The good news is the secondary tumor which was identified on her liver/spleen area is considered a cyst and not a tumor and not a metastatic secondary tumor from the one by the esophagus.

Myasthenia is an auto-immune condition which attacks the neuro-muscular junction.
It makes her weak, unable to walk, very drooly with a danger of developing a number of issues such as aspirating, pneumonia and scarring of the esophagus.
She is currently receiving Cyclosporin and [Mycophenalate] -< spelling uncertain> and IV fluids...
So, more prayers, more prayers and more prayers.
Thank you everyone for the love and concern you have blessed us with thus far.
I will keep you posted.
