Hi G-Fans!
Yes, March first and more SNOW! The four letter word - S-N-O-W!
Humans are so competitive with Mother Nature they are talking about breaking records for snowfall this year.
I say, "Whatever".
It is snow. It comes, it goes, and lately it gets in the way of me getting a good walk.
Today we went to the forest and walked the snowmobile trails as we have been since all this accumulated snow has impeded normal walking. We had mostly an uneventful experience. We had two aliens steering really loud snow bikes at one point. The concierge told me that they are snowmobiles being driven by humans with snow suits and helmets on.... I dunno. Raphael and Harry were pretty concerned...... The snow was pretty steady by the time to took to the trail... I heard this is being called a "Snow Event" instead of a storm or blizzard. That can't be good when they have to come up with new ways to refer to something that has been around for a long time.....
So, as an aside... I did not know this, but there was additional excitement yesterday. Apparently Bertie had some unleashed freedom on our walk.... he didn't go far obviously, or I would have been more aware of the situation. But I am imagining there was some snow scampering to be had..... He does love to scamper!
Now, back to today....
The excitement of the day was more in the beginning.
Significantly, Sophie was a nuisance this morning waking the concierge up before the alarm and was relentlessly banging at the closet door. The concierge was pretty grumpy since she was really tired and really wanted the extra forty minutes of sleep. Even when the concierge threw slippers, moved big pillows in front of it, and hissed at Sophie to knock it off, Sophie was one track relentless.
Then it was time to get up.
The concierge went about her morning and was getting her clothes together and opened the closet to find one of the little knobs that covers the end of the shelves on the floor right beyond reach where Sophie was "playing" earlier... The concierge disgustedly picked up the little white piece of plastic and saw something in the corner of her eye. She decided it was a shoelace that dangled unexpectedly (although causing a screech). When the concierge went back to the closet to get her shoes Sophie was on top of the open closet in a heartbeat. As the concierge went to get her shoes she distinctly saw a mouse, At which point she screeched in earnest, it was more about the fact that the mouse was in her bedroom and had probably crawled over the concierge on more than one occasion.... I guess me too, but it isn't as alarming to me.....
So, the trap was set.
The trap was tripped by this afternoon.
A field mouse.
So, the release program was underway.
On our way to our walk the concierge found an area that has lots of prospects for shelter and food sources. So, when she opened the trap door to release the little interloper, the mouse wouldn't move. I was rooting for a quick exit since I was waiting to go park the royal transport and get my walk underway....
The concierge shook, tapped, rattled and jiggled to get the mouse out. UN-unh! The mouse was clinging spread eagle to the sides of the trap so it didnt' have to step on the snow or be released into such wildness with no domiciles in sight.
Finally it dropped to the snow and skedaddled off into a brushy area (as brushy as it gets, anyway, in five feet of snow...!)
So, we had an eventful sort of day.
How about you?
May you prepare for the excitement of the day with good humor and a calm spirit....
TTFN!
-G
